Hmmm.. a little about myself...I am so terrible at these things. Well I guess I'll start with a name. My name is Nikki. Hi. I am slightly geeky, a bit of dreamer, but still manage to stay down to earth. I have several passions. I love to bake. There's something satisfying about being able to eat something you make from scratch. I also love reading. I typically prefer sci fi and fantasy, but enjoy a good manga/comic book now in again. I am also fascinated the unknown. Ghosts, spirits, other paranormal stuff. I have an open mind to most things. I currently live in Texas with my boyfriend and, now, 3 cats. I swear I am not the crazy cat lady on the block. I also have served four years in the United States Marine Corps. It was an interesting experience. I was fortunate to meet so many wonderful people. I really don't know what else to say. If you want to know more feel free to ask. :)
Nice to meet you....
Speaking of books, after seeing you like sci fi/fantasy along with interests in ghosts and such--
I just finished reading the Rylee Adamson Novels [8 books so far] by Shannon Mayer and found it to be pretty well written It combines modern day humans with the Supernatural world and IMO the author does a really good job balancing the 2 worlds together
I got the first novel free via bookbub [Amazon] but even tho they've been out for a while, it was very nice to be able to read one right after another without having to wait a year
S. Mayer goes from one book to the next without missing a beat
They are about a woman, Rylee, who is a 'Tracker' of lost children but of course there is more to her than meets the eye The first book slowly gets you used to her and her daily life in the human world, who her best friend happens to be a witch & the FBI Agent who has stalked her for 10 years trying to pin a murder on her
Well as the books go on, more and more Supernaturals are introduced as well as a more complex story line The books flow flawlessly from one to another without any hiccups
There are a lot of f-bombs dropped, but for me, I didn't find it offensive in the least Mainly dire situations that call for dire words...HA
Also the dialog IMO was witty and moves along smoothly
AND....the female lead is strong and kicks azz without any of the usual 'bimbo-type' actions found in most books But being as she is a Tracker, that is one of her personality traits which is what helps her to fight and survive
But now I have to wait until next spring for the next novel...ugh Kinda like having to wait for the next season of Game of Thrones!! LOL
I also love reading. I typically prefer sci fi and fantasy, but enjoy a good manga/comic book now in again.
My Dad gave me a Kindle last weekend so that I could read this series, which you might enjoy: Breakers -- it's an apocalypse story, seven books and I'm only 1/2 way into the first one, but it's very interesting and well written.
A weird series that I was referred to a couple of years ago is Trader's Tales, a series of six books where nothing happens. Literally, it's just some guy's life, flying on an interstellar trading vessel, and it's amazingly engaging for having nothing happen. You can listen to the whole series as podcasts for free.
