Shake it off. You're at a point where a reasoned decision must be made. Don't make a emotional one. Take your time, think it through. You at least have a bed and food and a roof over your head at the moment. Don't frak that up.
You say that you wish sometimes you were back in the Marines? I was much in your position back in my young twenties. But homeless as well. I ended up re-enlisting. Most blessed-cursed thing I ever did. Do you have that option. If your record is a tad tarnished, it too can be fixed, but that takes time as well.
I hate to say this and I am sure that you are well aware of it, but there is no quick fix for you. Even if you won the lottery tonight on your last dollar, you would still have to wait a minimum of six weeks to see the check.
As I said before. Take your time. Breathe deep. Don't over react. Oh...and use this time in your life as a lesson to be learned and never forget it. I've been down your road and forgot about it when times got better and ended back on this same road again. Don't repeat those mistakes.
Beware the man who has one gun, he probably knows how to use it.
Not a lot of money in it from what I see, but scrap metal is usually free and it is just the time put in and gases used for the torch that cost. There is usually a profit though small.
Just a idea. If you can find a sheet of steel, maybe reproduce some graffiti from Banksy but in steel. That would look pretty cool. And he uses templates as well.
You may have to ask his permission though as I don't know if he copyrights his graffiti. (Which would be odd, as he would be copyrighting art while at the same time breaking the law when he sprays it on some unsuspecting wall. )

I may be biased, but I think you have far greater works in you that these examples. Even if you only do it as a sideline, one day your work WILL be recognized for the talent you possess.
Happiness is a forced emotion. It rarely comes of it's own accord. You have to seek it out. Being pissed off or depressed however does seek us all out and must be constantly fought.
