When mainstream media out and out lies to further an agenda

I could rant on about how terrible Obama is, about how rotten politicians are. . . .

But the real problem is that we have a large portion of the population who believe whatever is put out.

Truth?

Truth has taken a backseat to lies so well crafted, that supposed smart people fall for them on a daily basis.

Well, there is spin, and there is distorting the truth, and there is downright ridiculous lying. Their point, that this "ends the longest stretch of being underwater in over 30 years" is patently false. I could do a survey that consisted of you and me, would it be statistically valid? Heck no.

I hate the intentional distortion of facts to "make a point".

He's the worst President since World War II, that is hardly a debatable point, and the left are a bunch of conniving liars for trying to refute it like this.

The media, the Washington Post in this case, should be counted on to reliably deliver the facts, and let US determine what they mean.

This turned into a rant, sorry.

I think the worst part of the media is the lie of omission. At least when they report on an news situation people have the opportunity to decide if the report is a lie, contrived, or completely made up to move public opinion in a direction they want. 

An example of this for me would be the total lack of reporting on "Fast and Furious" the idea the government is selling firearms to drug lords while trying to take yours away is a constitutional violation and crime of immense proportion.

Everyone calls them the MSM (Main Stream Media) personally I prefer the (Main Stream Marketing) arm of a political system gone awry. They are supposed to be reporting witnesses to the evils of our country, informing citizens what to be wary of. Instead we have a political propaganda operation designed to manipulate the public to a preconceived narrative .

My favorite snarky one, you have hit it right on the money, I would just like to add this is the real reason for the dumbing down of America. An uneducated populace is much easier to lie to and control when they are without a clue, and work them like dogs requiring both parents to work to pay for their over spending.

Was it a plan or unintended consequences? I don't know, but it sure makes my tin hat vibrate. 

So the question becomes how does the educated minority ie. the folks at say Hernandos for example, go about educating the the dumbed down remaining populace? That is the trillion dollar question. I don't necessarily blame the dumbed down populace so much as I do government. Wouldn't it be nice to have a big family, a great job, and only worry about taking care of them. Unfortunately it's not in my makeup I have to know more, why are the things the way they are. Why do we continue to repeat the same mistakes throughout history? All empires have fallen, will ours be next?

One cannot help but wonder what people in the future (assuming that there are any) will think of us, when they are granted the wisdom of time and seeing the end result of our behaviour. I cannot imagine that they will look on this as the "golden age of humanity," and if I was to speculate, I'd say that there will be a line drawn at some point in the 1960s that historians will mark as "the decline started here." We thought that we were liberating ourselves, when if fact we were destroying ourselves.

I think it may also be important to consider that with approval polls, especially? A fair % of people represented likely DO like this President. If you've gotten Marijuana for medical for the first time ...Obama is a pretty cool guy. If you've found yourself among the % to really benefit from Obamacare (and there IS a % who truly have life better now, to be fair..it just isn't near worth the % who are the other way), he's the best thing since modern medicine came into being. If you're gay and dreamed of standing proud in the Armed Forces? No President has been BETTER..than Obama.

I just throw this out there for perspective, and the people who believe the above aren't stupid people. They're just focused on what matters most to them. In the same way I will NOT vote for someone who is against personal ownership of firearms, no matter what else they do well? Others feel equally strong about what Obama has done well.

I know I know..It's a toughie for us to imagine, and especially those of us here who tend to be news hounds as more than a mere hobby. How could anyone not see the REST of what Obama has done, it may seem logical to ask? Then again...how much GOOD do politicians accomplish who we shoot down on single issues (like guns), and that we don't know about or even care to know of?

It takes all kinds, eh? We're all Americans in the end..and if this turkey didn't have a % supporting him, our nation would be in far worse turmoil than it is, IMO.

My suspicion is that they are trying to paint the president in a more flattering light even though he will be leaving office soon so as not to lose the typical liberal voting base come next election. History has proven that when an outgoing president has a low approval rating toward the end of his term his party doesn't stand a chance at getting a new candidate elected in the next presidential race.
