Good morning... 

I wanted to say hi properly and tell you a bit more about me, so you kinda know who I am. I was invited here by another poster, and I'm really grateful to her for thinking of me. The feeling I get here is already special, and I'm totally done with sites that put me on edge and make me feel like I have to be ready for a fight every second I'm there. I'm sure you understand where I'm talking about... 

I chose the name Hepzibah to kinda make a break with my more usual online persona of Caitlinfae...time for a little change, an upgrade, a new look. If I've run into you on some other forum and upset you with my usually very outspoken views ( I don't back down from a fight easily, if ever! Stubborn, feisty, opinionated, motormouth redhead....ah well....) then I'm really truly sorry, and will offer cuddles to make up for it. Please don't let the red hair put you off.  

So....everyone has been quite open here, so I will be too, which feels lovely to be able to do. I'm fast approaching 50, which isn't limiting at all, but is more some kind of liberation. My life has never been a smooth curve of anything, but more kind of mountainous lurches from one disaster to the next ridiculous situation, and then on to something even more unlikely. Not for me the security of husband, children, home, garden, job, career....am I sad? Feel like I'm missing something? Nope. 

I've just been through 3 of the most difficult years of my life, with illness, loss, stress, pain, uncertainty, and it's not over yet. It's left me  in a place where I'm absolutely determined to live my life the way it should have been from the start, and now I kinda see that all the traumas may have been a way of trying to kick me back on track. Don't get me wrong...I'm intensely grateful for all the experiences and every little thing I've learned, and where they've put me. Back track to me as a 4 year old. All i wanted to do was paint and draw, and it was reduced to maybe an hour a day when I had to sit still at the table and that was my painting time while the tv was on.....when I wanted to be painting before I was even out of my jammies in the morning. In fact, that's still how I feel. Actually, I want to stay in my jammies and be painting all day. But somehow, I chose a family filled with uniforms...soldiers, nurses, railwaymen, police officers, airmen....to be born into, and I'm still scratching my head about that. 

What else....I love my dog beyond reason...he's a Staffie, and I knew he was mine as soon as I saw his photo on a rehoming site. I run a tiny gallery and tearoom in the village where I live, and it's a huge struggle of a learning curve running a rural business in Scotland. But it's developing slowly in the right direction, and persistence is the key to almost everything. Other interests include food...I'm vegetarian, trying hard to be vegan, and housing. No doubt I will have a rant about housing soon here...it's a pet obsession of mine for many reasons. Along with electromagnetic pollution, the education system, and what might be loosely called survivalism. 

So thank you all again for being here and starting this....I will be here of anyone would like to say hi.  

@guohua, that's a great idea about the music, and I definitely will dig some out for you all...there is some beautiful music produced in Scotland. 

And yes, the redhead thing is very Scottish, or Celtic if you prefer, which would other Celtic countries like Ireland and Wales, but I believe Scotland has the highest percentage of redheads in the world, at about 13%. Few people are neutral about us...we're like Marmite, so we get either love or hate... I think many people expect us to be troublemakers...which is...obviously...just...rubbish..... 


There is also a deep seated superstition about redheads, with old beliefs that red haired women are witches and children of the devil....I will dig up some links tomorrow, as the history of belief in this is fascinating. There are people who just flat out hate us, in a very racist way. Not that we care.
