none of those are for sure but theyre going to be the first calls i have made. even though that chopper was a build, i love it. that is my exact style.
So you are an old school chopper guy... very nice.
Never buy anything that depreciates when it hits the driveway on the way out. Let someone else take the hit. Buy something like an old car that appreciates, why lose any money when you don't have to. Neither of those cars looks EMP proof to me. I am looking for a 70's blazer right now. Full size. 4WD ... EMP proof, SHTF worthy, and room to sleep and room for the pooch.
i have a ford f150 that i am keeping. just for a spare. yeah, im an old school chopper guy. up till a few years ago i would not have entertained a build like that. yeah, harley motor and trans but paucho frame and Another TOS Owner front end. wasn't my thing.
my attitude towards that has changed. with my hand the way it is i will not be able to ride as much as i want so something like that would be just fine. ive always wanted a panhead but i dont want to dump that much money on a bike. if i dont wind up getting that chopper i will be looking into a late 70's early 80's model shovelhead.
i like older bikes. rats even. kick and electric. apes. small baffles. straight pipes.
my style
if it does not make it stop faster or accelerate faster, then take it off
I was thinking of buying a touring bike last year, though I was going to get a BMW, since that's the car I drive. But I need to take a class or something, because I'm not sure that I'll be able to ride one -- I have right/left blindness and have to think about right or left and I'm not sure that I'll be able to safely operate a bike that way.
I could probably be talked into a Harley if I do decide to get one, though there's only one person who could do that, and she knows who she is, lol.

i think you'd be fine on a bike. you'd be surprised at how easy it is. even with having to think about the right/left thing. i dont see how that would effect your riding. you drive a car right?

Unless a person has the problem, it's impossible to explain
But my plan is to take a class -- I have my permit already, and if you take a three day class here, when you're done you get your license automatically (assuming you don't fail.) That will allow me to assess whether I can do it without having to buy a bike first.

One of the hardest things we had to do was get rid of our '88 blazer (sigh) That was our toy!!
It had over 400,000 miles (hwy) and still going
The '89 models is when they changed the looks of the grill And by '94, they stopped calling them 'Blazers' and named them 'Tahoe' They looked nice but were clearly NOT made for 4-wheelin More like Mom's ride to the grocery store
Every time we thought of trading it in, the sales guys would say, "boy they don't make them like this anymore" and of course, we backed out (wrong thing to say...LOL)
But with the DOT cracking down since 9/11 and our stock truck/RV drew more attention/hassle than we cared for, we got rid of that for a 5th wheel which meant had to sell our blazer and get a dually to pull it with
It makes me sad tho every time we pass an old blazer like that That was our baby...
Here's the thing the 70 K5 has only a capacitor under the distributor cap, and diodes in the alternator that are at risk. No computers, nothing in the way of injection, just a carbureted motor with nothing extra. As an additional benefit any chev truck from 68 to 72 parts are interchangeable, and if you want some nice looking, LMC truck has a catalogue with new replacement parts.
If you are good with your hands, you might want to look into the various auctions. From the local counties to banks. I have a friend who does this with houses and vehicles and flips them for a tidy profit.
Going to the Lorain Auction house (OHA) tomorrow morning to look my Jeep over and get stuff out of it. I have a feeling that the thieves who stole it may have totaled it. fm522295c4
Beware the man who has one gun, he probably knows how to use it.
400K is great service from any vehicle. The wife and I have been looking at a 5th wheel as well, I have a F250 Diesel 6.0 4WD as my everyday truck and 2 motor cycles. Just a nice truck that like yours I am sure will pull a house down. If we ever did have a EMP burst it would be useless though and "Rita" would break my heart. She has puter, as a main system and another just for fuel.
I always look for something a longer term for any kind of disaster from food to vehicles. We would like to stay here but we live around so much military we would probably have to leave if the SHTF. We will be ready though in some shape or fashion.

Let us know what you find out....hope it's not a total loss
I have had a truck stolen before, it just so sucks. I am seriously sorry to hear it.
You could say being good with my hands might be an understatement. On the left wall of my new garage I have 4 roll aways, and two large bottoms full of hand tools for everything. I have a miller wirefeed, heliarc, torches, plasma cutter, pretty much anything you need to build or fabricate car wash equipment. I have just now started to collect wood working tools and just got a complete shopsmith with all the attachments. I already had hand, power, cordless saws of various sizes. Routers etc. I sold the lathes and mills just before moving here with other heavy tools as well. I am retired now time to noodle and enjoy it instead of making a buck.
I am ready for when the SHTF that is if the don't drop a nuke close, which they probably will. lol Then I hope the house is ground zero.
In California before I left I was a partner in a supply company for detail supplies to companies that detailed all the cars before going across the auction blocks for Manheim. In Fontana out there they have 100 acres of parking lot for the cars they action every week. Out there the auctions are wild, I have no idea what it's like here.
Hey and if you're anywhere close to Williamsburg, and need any tools to fix that jeep come on over. I probably have it.
