I wish I could say I thought of this, but alas...No. Someone did an outstanding job in collecting, sorting and representing USGS data in an extremely useful way!

What this handy little site lets you do is type in the location name of just about any place and see what has happened recently and historically (run your own home town and see... I did, and saw I shouldn't have much to worry about for history).
It's greatest use might actually be in seeing just how 'usual' events are in places where they are happening now and raising eyebrows. Are they really new or just new to have noticed? This may well help answer it with a few clicks.
