Where's the beef? I know, sharing the source of that (for those younger members of our audience) tends to date me a bit but, it was a classic set. One has to admit that.
Now last I checked, Wendys still had beef in their Burgers. It's Burger King who has literally come to value expansion and profit over their own namesake. Funny in that, but I always thought a place with "Burger" right in the name ought to be loyal to the core brand concept. Of course..I've shared that wisdom with a couple cashiers who misread their breakfast/lunch clocks for serving Burgers at Burger King, but then I'm that kind of bunny too.
In this case? They go where no beef burger would dare tread. Burger King goes to India! (Home of the Cow as the worshiped animal) Moo!
Asking for a Whopper in New Delhi would be like asking a Dog steak with a side of Mr Ed the Horse at a PETA convention. So..How does a brand defined and invented to serve a beef burger go function in a place that sees Cattle a divine? Well, the brand adapts to eating other critters of course!

US fast food chain Burger King Worldwide will open about 12 outlets in India over the next 60-90 days, Rajeev Varman, chief executive of the hamburger chain's India unit said on Saturday.
The chain announced last year a tie-up with the Everstone Group to develop the Burger King brand presence in the country.

In India, the hamburger chain has changed its menu to sell mutton, chicken and veggie sandwiches.

I have to sometimes remind myself in a real effort that THIS is the type of thing most of the world sees for actual, real world contact with what they perceive to be American Culture. (sigh) As the article also notes, Turkey, China and Russia are on a brisk pace of around 100 new fast food (garbage joints) open per year. Well...I suppose if spreading the fat of our Western excess is our goal? It's going quite well. You can even have it "Your Way" now.
Even India will now have a Burger King, to go with their McDonalds, KFC and Subway franchises. (Quite a world we're seeing shape up, isn't it?)
