Obamacare and death panels

In all fairness to Mr Gruber he's kind of right about the level of intelligence of a great many Americans (sad to say.) His main problem seems not that he said those things but that he just let's it all hang out when he's talking to people that may be sympathetic to the ACA cause.

As example of stuff people should have know or been able to figure out (and we beat a lot of this stuff to death over at TOS)

ACA is insurance not healthcare.
Insurance companies are not known for putting customers before shareholders.
Somebody has to pay for that "free" healthcare.
If the policy price is low the deductible is going to be high.
Somebody is going to have to determine when care is not covered (death panels.)

There are so many problems with the ACA it boggles the mind. Hopefully the Supreme Court will put it out of it's misery soon. Seems like if the government could have just said the uninsured must sign up for Medicare and doctors/hospitals must take it we might have less of a mess now. Perhaps with a sliding scale or something. I know someone still has to pay but as a 1st world country people should have access to care.

As far as people being denied care there probably is some point where it doesn't statistically make sense for someone to have a procedure done etc. Determining what that point might be is the problem.
