any tips/tricks to block this shit? as of about 3 hours ago the site was fine. i saw no ads. no pop ups. i restarted my comp for no real reason. when i started it back up i have been getting rocked and this site is the worst. i was on firefox. had a couple ad blocking extensions and nothing. downloaded chrome and its the same. bad enough to where if i cant get it handled i am not going to be able to be here. every time i go to a new thread they pop up. there are ads in between posts. i will be in a thread and i will be reading a post and i cant even scroll down cause all the shit. then after a post there is an ad. last thread i was in had an ad for cricket. above this box right now is one of those generic looking ads that is flashing low disc space with boxes to click to repair windows errors. this comp has like 400 gigs free on it.
someone please help me out.
i just scrolled down to the create thread button and under this box is an ad for deletbloodcancer.org
i want to hag out here but i cant have this
im willing to download and/or install extensions/switch browsers...i just need a point in the right direction
You might want to download MalwareBytes and let it do its thing for awhile. I can tell you that no flood of ads is coming from here. Believe it or don't. Hernandos is run ad free. The great folks at Reality Remix insured that happened with a little seed money at the start. (Thanks Guys!!)
Maybe take a screen shot? Seriously tho...I can't see how it could be coming from here. I just shut down my different things to go 'naked' and I just see a link at the bottom about 'how to turn off ads'..but no ad around it. A couple folks here will be pissed with good reason, if that ever changes and ads come back somehow.
will try it. i just downloaded an ad blocker for chrome and cc cleaner too and it didnt do anything. before i could get to this box to type i had to close 3 pop ups. i dont see how i was fine and the restarting my comp made it hapen. i will download that malware thing now...
It sounds like you got infected with Malware. It could have come from anywhere, and even with multiple ad blockers and a flash blocker running all the time? I still get infected with that crap often enough to piss me off. A couple in particular just won't go away and its coming off bad ad code and malicious ad code from cheap, second rate ad providers.
There are a couple big sites around that use such basement type services for their ads and they get and then pass on the bad code. Greed...Thats all it can be, as I'd pull the whole ad series on the first confirmed report on a site I owned. Heck...losing a little money can be replaced. Losing users for infecting them isn't just rude...people remember that stuff! lol
** Malwarebytes should take care of ya..and if the first run doesn't do it, run it again (In safe mode, if possible). I've had to run it as many as 3 times on my wife's computer. Her Facebook time sinks and browser games screw her computer up worse than a toddler with a hammer at times.

Okay.. Run Malwarebytes in safe mode before doing anything else. If you're windows 8..you'll need to find a guide to follow on how. I don't recall the steps by memory
I may be off by the time you get back from the Safe Mode scan. If that fails, don't randomly bounce all over the net trying different stuff. You could spend the whole night doing that and still be nowhere new by morning...or so I've heard..err..heh.
That is one of the better places across the net for accurate information and effective and clean solutions. When the going is 'awww..screw it!'? It's time to visit them, IMO.
If you don't already have these...that link goes to a specific page in their download directory. THAT page, you want to download Autoruns (remember to run it as an administrator) and if you haven't used it before, hang on....It's the Microsoft windows utility they never put into it and part of the 'Internals Suite' you can also get from Microsoft for free.
Next page you want MalwareByes Anti-Exploit. Page 4, you want Malwarebytes Anti-Rootkit. The three together (with your normal MB scanner being 1) should whammy it good.
If Malwarebytes line of fixers still got bested? There is another choice..but back up what you consider critical. This is like using undiluted bleach on a floor spill. It fixes everything (just about) but wow...it'll clear your sinuses and knock ya back if you aren't careful.
If you are anywhere near talking other operating systems tho? By all means, put Combofix through the system before throwing it all to start over. That has saved more than one machine thought lost.
I had the same problem roughly a week ago. Not with just this site, but every site. Running MalWareBytes fixed it for me...but I'm still running Vista.
Kind of wondering though if it's a attack of some sort from TOS? That's the tin-foil hat guy in me though.
Beware the man who has one gun, he probably knows how to use it.
i think i must have picked something up through a torrent that didnt 'install' until i restarted my computer. everything was fine and then once i did that i was hammered. if i opened a tab or went to a new page i would get 3-4 separate windows that popped up plush flashing and side scrolling ads.

What anti-viruses are you running? Also, I doubt the infection came from a torrent, most likely from browsing, or free game sites like that.
I suggest Download the free avast anti-virus program. It's very light on memory load, and does a pretty descent job. Download CCleaner. Download chrome -> Go to chrome store and add "addblock plus, adthwart, Ghostery, collusion, and perhaps noscript"
And if it's still the same, try a system restore to a previous point, or if you are running laptop return to factory settings.
