Irma made landfall in the Keys as a Category 4 hurricane before driving up the western coast of the Sunshine State and farther northward into the Carolinas and Georgia. Irma has been blamed for at least 29 deaths in the U.S. and dozens more in the Caribbean.
The U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) estimates about 25 per cent of the homes in the Keys were destroyed. Another 65 per cent were hit by some form of damage. Irma shredded houses and mobile homes with 165 km/h winds, and the storm surge that followed swallowed up entire towns. Boats and jet skis were left strewn across beaches and roads.

I have also been worrying about ATF and hoping that he is doing okay and didn't suffer much damage. Quin's boyfriend is a bit to the west of Orlando and around half way between Tampa and Orlando, FL and his college and apartment are still without power and unsure when it will be restored. I heard from his mom that he was desperate for a shower and something warm to eat (other than cold poptarts and canned goods that he has been eating), so she found a hotel that had power and booked him a room. He was able to go get cleaned up and charge his electronics - which made Quin happy since they got to chat a bit longer than they have been recently due to him keeping his phone and computer off as much as possible - and have a warm meal. He sent some pictures of the hotel and there was some pretty bad looking damage to the exterior wall, but they were open and really running well all things considered.
I haven't heard much from other friends and family in Florida, just that everyone is safe, but not how much damage was sustained.
