Thousands of places worse than Flint, Mi.

There seems to be some double standards going on. Were told there is no safe level for having lead in one's blood, yet OSHA allows 40mcg per dl of blood in the workplace.
If you test above 40, they retest in six months. If you test at 50 or higher, they retest in three months, and if it's still high they offer chelation therapy, and remove you from the high-lead area until your blood lead level returns to 40mcg again.

My blood lead level ran between 29 and 33 for ten years, even throughout 2 pregnancies. I was told it was perfectly safe to have lead in my blood because OSHA says so. ( Neither of my children are stunted or 'developmentally disabled'.)

I don't think lead is a good thing to have in one's body, but I have to wonder if it isn't being overly dramatized- perhaps to shift focus away from the harm some scientists believe they cause?
