As of May 2016, China is officially the home of the world’s longest insect, a stick insect named Phryganistria chinensis Zhao. First seen in 2014, the new insect species measures 62.4 centimeters, or about 2 feet, 0.57 inches long. It was named for its discoverer, Zhao Li, a scientist with the Insect Museum of West China, where the specimen now resides. The new record holder took the title from Phobaeticus chani, or Chan’s megastick, a Malaysian stick insect that is 22.3 inches long.
That is a whole lot of nope right there. At two feet long it isn't that much smaller than me at 5'1", it's almost half my size. It's a really cool discovery, but I am happy to admire it from my computer screen and glad that it is far enough away that I don't have to worry about running into it in my back yard.
