Heya guys! I need input from you menfolk for some ideas. I don't know for sure what to get for my hubby, Russ, for Christmas. I was thinking about some cologne because he mentioned an interest, but not what kind. I was wondering if you could give me names of ones that you like that I can check out when I am at the mall next. That would help out so much and give me something to start with. Any ideas for other things would definitely be welcome, too. He is spectacularly less than helpful when it comes to trying to get him to tell me what he wants or even needs.
My main type has been Red Shirt. It's a star trek cologne found online. Not sure it's in any store though. As far as before that old-spice,brute,Ck are some others I have used. My best advice is to just smell them and see what you like. If you like it most likely he will also. As for anything else. My answer when asked what I want has always been piece and happiness to everyone. That's what I want. I really will be happy with anything I get from my kids or wife.
History is just that,His Story. There are always two sides to it.
spyderw1, Awesome! I am hitting an Ulta store today and will be at the mall with the kid in a few days, so I have written those down to smell and see what I think. This is a wonderful start, thank you!

Get him a power tool that he wants or doesn't have, or a gun with a case and some ammo, or lots of red meat and a BBQ to grill it on, beer (can't forget that), oh, and pretzels for the beer, a subscription to a muscle car or girly magazine, some cigars, more beer, a home brewing kit with ingredients to make gallons of beer, and um, did I mention some beer?
I agree with the smell test however a simple hand written note (if you still like him) saying why you like and appreciate him is something that will last long after the cologne is gone... IMO
You guys are fantastic. Definitely some good ideas to think about. Maybe not the beer, though. He would love a pack of cider or a couple different kinds of ciders. He tends to prefer that to beer, but it's in the same realm, I guess. I'll have to see if I can ferret out of him what kind of power tools he might want. I know he has just about everything he could want for work mostly supplied by our business and he just uses those for stuff around the house, but there might be something he doesn't have and would like, so I'll have to see what I can find out.
We do notes for each other for anniversaries and birthdays, but I know that he likes those and has saved every note and letter that I've written to him, so that is a good idea for something to do, too!
All of this is a great start to get me pointed in the right direction. I appreciate it a lot. Thank you!

I definitely could not have said it better. Are we related somehow? I suppose we are both Michiganders. And guys.
The last thing I would want to get for Christmas is after shave or cologne. I suppose women like to give it because we tend to stink from smoking the cigars and drinking all the beer. They could sell more aftershave if they made it smell like gunpowder smoke too.
Michigan Swamp Buck, the brewing kit is a pretty good idea! Glencairn mentioned her husband prefers cider, and Professor Google shows they do in fact have cider beer kits out there.
Maybe one of them would make a great DIY gift for him, Glencairn? I have no idea which would be best though, I've never bought any kind of DIY beer or cider kit.

Glencairn,Nyiah,, Those kits are great! Home brewing take only a few ingredients, which all the kits have. The price difference comes from how fancy of a keg you want.

I am assuming a trip to the strip club is out of the question..
Memories are as important as major gifts
Might I actually make an adult suggestion
Why not in vein of the joke above, Mommy/daddy time
Rent a cabin for a weekend kid free In a nice area woods, on the beach, or perhaps visit a site
Get lingerie , food to cook, wine and alcohol
And just be
Please note I said an adult suggestion If he has never been somewhere.. Go there if it is like vegas See what comedians are there
or perhaps a broadway show or opera (every guy should go once but might not be his cup of irish coffee)
or go visit a brewery
just remember kids free and just the two of you (and yes it can be done on the cheap if you plan properly)
Just remember the day show aint the main entertainment
You asked
Just remember your body's cycle when planning It is shameless guy advice, nothing is intended (hell a kids free, no boss or work,no chores, or no D@#$ hassles weekend sounds F#$%ing good) make a memory he will NEVER forget
Now for my inner lesbian's
First do some intelligence gathering
Do you share an amazon account
Check viewing history for orders placed onhold or recently viewed items
Does he do cars? A project car from a junk yard he can restore
Does he have a man cave he can hide in? It is his deal to decorate (and clean)
His own TV, big screen?
Is he a gamer? his own gaming computer (is very different if you need a build list I can get it from a friend, parts mostly from amazon)
is he a fan of a certain star? Most have agents and they sell signed autographs Music, movies, writers, sports, or television
is he a shoe guy? A pair of original Jordans or other male shoe thingies
It is simple..You know him quiet well
Pleasure habits plus memorabilia equal gift getting
On you Communication with sellsman, homework delivery and presentation
Again that is the best all around advice I can think of off the top of my head
For all I know he may want to go a spa for a day!!
The choice is make a memory or solid object of intangible value
You guys are fantastic! These are all really good ideas. Bon, your list gave me some really great ideas and got me thinking in a direction I hadn't considered. Thank you! I did finally get a single hint from Russ about something he really would like, too. He wants a gift certificate for a massage. I will get him one for the place near us. I haven't been to her in years, but the massage therapist there is wonderful and right here in town.
Hi Everyone! I'm Alive and well (barely )! sorry for being so absent lately but as most now, I was having Laptop issues and couldn't connect from home... I reinstalled windows last night (yay I finally received the install CD from eBay), A little more configuring to do tonight then I will be able to bug you all like crazy as before!!!
Glencairn A Cologne that I really like is Burberry Sport...but it's really hard to find (Not sure if they still make it) and my wife loves it too.
witch reminds me...I all out of cologne too, any idea on what kind I should get?
You don't have a soul. You are a soul, you have a body!
Teye22, I'm glad you're back and I saw in the shoutbox that you got all of your data recovered, too! That is phenomenal.
I need to go back to Ulta to pick up some stuff that the kid wants (she's as hard to get ideas out of as hubby is) and we'll check out some of the scents that they have there and see if there are any of the ones you guys suggested that I think he might like.
