The news is saying that there were 11 police officers shot with 4 fatalities. I don't know if this is the official number and confirmed or not. The police are saying that it appeared to be shots coming from two snipers in elevated positions.
This link on CNN has a handful of updates as information has come in.
From the Dallas Police Department Facebook Page: DPD FB
Tonight it appears that two snipers shot ten police officers from elevated positions during the protest/rally. Three officers are deceased, two are in surgery and three are in critical condition.
An intensive search for suspects is currently underway. No suspects are in custody at this time. We ask that any citizen with information regarding the shootings tonight call 214-671-3485.
We will provide more information once it is available. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers tonight.
This is so sad and must have been incredibly terrifying for those at the protest.
hillary insured the youth vote yesterday with her plan for freebes for college students, now many who were on the fence about gun control are in her pocket.
Snipers? How convenient. Guess the investigation into her inability to understand the importance of national security is over.
Funny how every mass shooting we've had follows on the heels of an investigation into some government officials' wrong-doing.
What bothers me the most in following public comments on social media is this: We-human beings- are being pitted against each other over differences in opinion, and incited to riot. What empathy we do have for each other is giving way to misdirected anger.
My anger is not directed at my fellow citizens; it's directed at those who control us; the media, bankers, corporations and most of all our government. It's obvious to me they all WANT us to fight with each other, and the last thing I want to do is their bidding.
Actually, between the scant care our military gets upon returning from deployments/leaving service, and the fact that it's been a desired training ground for unsavories for a long-ass time, Spyder's personally surprised this didn't happen years ago. There's a lot of angry vets beyond tired of getting sub-par care & services in return for their tours of duty. He had this guy pegged for military last night based on the tactics he used downing the cop behind the pillar ("Yep, he's military. Count on it, that's Urban Warfare training.") Not saying all current/former military are liable to go demented, but the recipe is there.Camel's back and straw and stuff.
Now, whether or not this turns out to be linked to Black Panthers or BLM or some other radical racist group is neither here nor there. Now we really have to face the facts that keeping garbage out of the military is like trying to hold water in a sieve. We also need to face the music on terrible care given to our military.
Nyiah, You bring up some very good points! There are a lot of groups that are becoming more angry by the day.Seniors loosing their ability to survive on the meager portion of the money they've paid in all ther lives' is another.
Do you ever wonder how life would change if media didn't sensationalize evry negative story they can get their hands on? Or, if they'd stay focused on things like the near-total government corruption?
I don't think we citizens hate each other nearly as much as the government wants us to, but the divide is growing, and obama sure isn't doing anything to calm or untie the citizens. His favorite statement seems to be 'racist act' as soon as something like this happens, yet he won't utter the words 'terrorist' unitl he 'has all the facts'.
Nugget, I think social media deserves far more blame than the news media does. News corps don't hold a candle to the winding up that can be accomplished through social media posts & resulting flame-wars between sides. Humans are naturally factional, we all always gravitate towards the company of like-minded people, no matter how open-minded we want to be. All we need is people we don't agree with on one side, and bullheaded jackasses to tend the flames beside us on our side to keep it going, not the 6:00 news. It's insanely easy to start a total shitstorm in 2016 than it was in 1986, and it's because we're all online today talking/arguing smack from the safety of our homes, instead of risking the first to the face one used to back in the day. Same thing would have eventually resulted back then, yes, it just would have taken longer to get organized, would have been more localized, & might not have been as commonplace as a result.
