Nugget,
Sounds like you need to get topographical maps (I can download them for my area) then shade in those areas and identify the potential traveling bottlenecks. Geography is one of the main concerns of intel gathering and disaster preparedness.
They are a very handy thing to have, especially for 'explorers' like us. We like to go scouting the countryside in our Rhino and just see where we can go that few others have ever been....

Here is some more information on the ongoing situation down in Venezuela. I got this story link from a thread over on the other side, at least a few people are paying attention.
So the gun grab continues and it seems that the only people with guns are the police and the criminals (naturally), and they are working hand in hand it seems. If Clinton gets in office and has her way with the 2nd amendment and things go like they have in Venezuela, we have about 3 to 5 years to be in a similar situation. Welcome to the socialist utopia known as Venezuela.
Venezuelan police crushed and chopped up nearly 2,000 shotguns and pistols in a Caracas city square on Wednesday, as the new interior minister relaunched a long-stalled gun control campaign in one of the world's most crime-ridden countries.
Interior Minister Nestor Reverol said the event marked the renewal of efforts to disarm Venezuelans, through a combination of seizures and a voluntary program to swap guns for electrical goods.
Venezuela has the world's second highest murder rate and the street gangs that plague its poor neighborhoods have become increasingly heavily armed in recent years, at a time when a deep recession has reduced resources available to police.
Gangs often get weapons from the police, either by stealing them or buying them from corrupt officers, experts say.
With inflation of 185 percent in 2015 and a currency collapse, police salaries have fallen far behind rising prices creating more incentives for corruption.
Some see the writing on the wall, but most never think past the immediate moment in life. The media is doing a really good job of brainwashing 'surface thinkers'.

Although it had stood out to me, I just gave this one part of the quote some thought, "guns for electrical goods". A couple of things that seem apparent to me is that it is really not a gun buy back in the sense that there is money exchanged, instead they barter with "electrical goods" in a country where people are starving and need basics like toilet paper. With an electric grid that experiences huge blackouts, what use are these "electrical goods"? They must be food replicators like on Star Trek.
An EMP could very well take out all or parts of our grid. Of course, it would be blamed on terrorists, but the end result could be a complete loss of the freedom we have left.

I'd have to say that in this situation of 185% inflation, even the government is willing to barter. The business to be in down there right now is barter and the black market, enough corrupt officials are in on it.
