A bunch of kids that went to the open house/scholarship competition were posting in a group for the school's class of 2022 and introducing themselves and posting a "fun fact" or two and Quin posted a little introduction with her fun fact being that she goes to and participates in renaissance faires every summer. One of the other girls in the group struck up a conversation about that and Quin discovered that they both go to ren faires and that the other girl also goes to Bristol, our home faire. Quin is really excited to be getting to know some of the other kids who will be incoming freshman with her and to start making friends before they get there.
Quin got her official formal admission acceptance letter today. She found out that she was also awarded a $23,000.00 merit award for her grades so that $52,000 a year is only half-ish that now. This is before she gets her financial aid packet, though. That will have any other grants and scholarships that she will be getting laid out in there. She is so excited about it. The letter was personalized with details that she had told to her admissions counselor and there was also a handwritten note from the Director of Admissions telling Quin how impressed the admissions committee was with her. That made her feel so good.
I am so proud of her for working so hard to get this and excited that she is seeing her dreams become one more step closer.
Quin got a letter from her college on Saturday letting her know that she won one of the Biology department merit scholarships from the recent scholarship contest open house she went to participate in. It is $1,000.00 and it is renewable all 4 years as long as she keeps her grades up and on the approval of the head of the biology/pre-health department. The contest was an academic one and the kids took a test and Quin was one of the first ones to finish with a very high score. I am so proud of her and excited that she is getting such a good feeling from these achievements.
