That's to funny I was looking for an image to post just like that...
I completely understand about the flying, I dislike it so much since moving to VA 4 years ago from CA I haven't been back for a visit with family, friends or anyone else. When I flew out here it was the first time in 35 years. Now the wife is a huge traveler and it pisses her off I won't go with her anywhere, and it makes it worse when I say I would rather stay home with the dog. She takes it personal when she shouldn't. Then after being subjected to the TSA morons it amazes me people put up with it. Just think for one second if people stopped flying? TSA would back way off, but all the dumb asses want to do is complain about it. I don't get it.
35 years ago was the first and last flight I took up until the wife talked me into leaving CA. I went from LAX to SF going up was fine, I was working for a very large corporation and had to go to a meeting and a week long chassis school. On the way back if was a nice flight as well, but for one reason. I stayed an extra day because one of the guys with me needed to get home that day early, and asked if he could swap tickets. I was single and in no hurry, the seat was at the rear of the plane I believe it was a 727. That seat was directly next to the engine, when it let loose. My ticket was for the isle seat and there was a man directly next to that. When the engine let loose the jets impeller flew out like a buss saw through the cabin killing the guy in the seat next to the one I had, before exiting the other side of the pane. It wasn't my day I guess but it left my friend and coworker pretty bloody. Throughout my life I have had a guardian angle that has plucked me out of several situations saving my life. BTW I am sure that story is some what embellished the guy I gave the ticket to was a salesman, but there were other employees on the flight and they said the guy died instantly.
If you have a headache, do what it says on the aspirin bottle: Take two, and KEEP AWAY FROM CHILDREN.
Rickster,All I know for sure is SeaTac and SaltLake City Int. are no fun to take off from, and I'm not convinced it can be done without copious amounts of alcohol.
We arrived in the states on Monday. Our route was to Bangkok-Tokyo- and then to Houston. 22 hours flight time.. The airport security all over the world is not nearly as invasive or stupid as the USA or American flagged airlines overseas. Although, I must admit, even though very efficient, Japanese are right up there on the check check security scale of almost stupid... You get off the aircraft and if you have a connecting flight you have to go back through a mini security scan again even though you are in the departure section of the airport. God forbid your bags were not checked through to your final destination... Then you retrieve your bags do the immigration B.S. even though you are transit and trying to leave within the hour on your connecting flight.
We still fly quite a bit, however we are old hands and never take stuff the local thieves (TSA) can confiscate...
It is a long walk from Asia to the states or a very long boat ride... Either way I do hate to have to fly someplace. I have friends who flew for airlines and have been retired for several years who will not fly simply because of the TSA and the hassle of flying anyplace..
It is the only way to get some places and unfortunately they the airlines and government know it...
