One week from today Kdog and I will be waking up in my beautiful home state of Texas! Yes, I finally get to take the man I love to meet all my friends and family "down home"! Not saying I don't love Kentucky- the last almost 2 years here have been wonderful- but as Dorothy said "There's no place like home!"
Now all I have to do is make it through this week at work without committing homicide and it's "vacation here I come"!

Nugget, Thank you! I know they will love him! They already like him from phone calls, Skype and Facebook!
It's just sad because his kids stopped speaking to him 2 months ago when they found out we are going on this trip. Their mother has essentially turned them into her mini mes" and after 2 years instead of the situation improving it has gotten worse. At least my friends and family will treat him like one of their own and he will be an official adopted Cajun!

Been through Texas. It didn't impress me much. I did like Kentucky though, I like the trees and hills.
Texas is kind of flat from what I have seen and it kind of smells like cows in many areas. I don't mind the smell of cows, but I don't think I would like to not get away from that smell.
Iowa smells worse if that is any consolation for you Texans. No wonder the first primary is in Iowa, that shows us that something stinks about our election process.
rickymouse, While we are staying in *yuck* northeast Texas (hot, dry, smoggy) during part of the trip the rest will be spent at home in southeast Texas, at the foot of the Big Thicket which is more of a tropical home for things that live just to bite you (mosquitos, tics, leeches, spiders, snakes, alligators, snapping turtles, wild hogs, etc.) . Yep, really don't miss having to watch every step when I'm outside, especially at night!
