This is an interesting mystery for the moment, and it pops up on RSOE.
48 dead with 145 total impacted? Yikes... Did they self inflict it or did someone have a bright idea that went a little dim for real world execution? (No pun intended)
Yeah.. I'm sure this is the most likely explanation. A large group of convicts, who know drugs and alcohol better than most chemists or drug comany development teams......would overdose themselves to death en masse. Yup.. I'm buying that... (Err....after I sign for that bridge deal someone told me about in NYC..I'll be back on that)

So, who done it? Was it the inmates with the bottles in the pharmacy or was it the butler with the bunk food in the packages? I'm betting the food, myself. Sounds to me like someone thought a little trojan horse might be in order ...but used a bit too much of whatever the knock-out was supposed to be. Oooops.... It knocked 'em out alright.
Venezuelan Penitentiary Services Minister Iris Varela has confirmed the death of 48 inmates, with 20 more still in a coma, after a mass poisoning of at least 145 prisoners, according to a story posted Wednesday by Fox News Latino.

According to the Venezuelan government, the inmates killed themselves on Nov. 26 after breaking into the infirmary at the David Viloria Penitentiary Center, locally known as the Uribana prison, and ingesting a mixture of drugs and alcohol.

On Dec. 1, Reuters provided context about the prison and the poisoning: "The (inmates) were sent bottles of water and food ... they haven't said who sent it, but it was let into the prison and that's what family members say caused (the intoxications)," said the group's Humberto Prado, who called for independent toxicological exams.
