My Dear Sweet Friend, My Heart Goes Out To You. I will hold you deeply in my Chants and Prayers This Afternoon and Tonight. I wish there was a Magic Word or Incantation to help.
There isn't and I'm so very sorry.
What we must do is look at Alternative methods. Have you tired Acupuncture and Cupping. At least Acupuncture, Cupping maybe to much or painful for you. If you choose Acupuncture, please ensure the Acupuncturist is a True Board Certified T C M Acupuncturist. Yes, there are others we call them Dry NeedleAcupuncture and the treatment can be uneffective and not help at all.
Now today most insurance companies cover a lic. Acupuncturist. Best for you would be a Traditional Chinese Medicine Practicing Acupuncturist, Why? Because there are Herbal Medicines that you can boil and drink and inhale that could work for you. Yes, you can lose weight and with cupping return circulation to areas that require more blood flow. No, this is not a cure, but with enough treatments and time it will improve and increase your quality of life and I have patients that have stopped using their walkers for most of the day or until they are tired. The most important treatment I've found is the Acupuncture and herbs for losing weight first.
Just something to think about. You're a Wonderful Person and I'm Sure You're Not As Angry As You Think You Are. Mr. wrabbit has said nothing but wonderful things about you to my husband and me. Even The Wrabbit has his bad days.
Well, think about it, I would suggest looking at this on line it's called Earthing. link or link I know people who have multiple health problems and They swear by this device, as cheap as $29. at Amazon for the ankle wrap, I'm looking into purchasing one to try.
My Dear, here let me list some of the things I can think of off the top of my head to help you understand about Acupuncture.
There is no evidence that diabetes drugs and Chinese herb therapies are incompatible, but there is a concern that when combining the two, the blood sugar may decline too far. If the herbs are added gradually over a few days with continued monitoring of blood sugar, this problem can be avoided. When herbs successfully contribute to lowering blood sugar, drug dosage may be reduced under a physician's instructions. Be advised, While Chinese literature sometimes mentions, in passing, the use of Chinese herbs along with modern drugs, specific strategies for combining the two are not commonly presented. OK from one of my books,
For insulin-dependent diabetics, a formula made with codonopsis, astragalus, atractylodes, rehmannia, ophiopogon, and lycium fruit was given (the formula tonifies qi and nourishes yin). For those with non-insulin-dependent type, they were treated with the same mixture either alone or with tolbutamide or glyburide. The herbs, prepared in liquid form, were given twice daily for three months. It was reported that the herbs exhibited a hypoglycemic effect and synergized with insulin and other drugs. For the group of 53 patients treated, the average fasting blood glucose at the beginning was 177 and at the end of the three months was 135. In another clinical trial (18), a group of 10 patients was identified who had responded poorly to Western drugs and also failed to respond to Chinese herbs. They were then given both the herbs and drugs concurrently. Significant improvements were observed in eight of the ten patients. Further, ginseng is reported to reduce the dosage of insulin needed by patients and to prolong the action of a dose of insulin (13).
ACUPUNCTURE FOR DIABETES
Acupuncture therapy is a common approach to treating diabetes in China. Many Americans assume that acupuncture is only suitable for treating pain, perhaps because the initial introduction of acupuncture was mainly for this application. Indeed, the general opinion here appears to be that acupuncture ought to be used mainly for treating chronic back pain. Therefore, relatively few people have turned to acupuncture for treating the disease. Increasingly, people with pain and other health problems for which acupuncture is selected also have diabetes.
A report in the 1994 Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine (37) serves as a model of Chinese research on acupuncture. The researchers recruited 60 patients with diabetes and divided them randomly into two groups: the acupuncture group (38 patients) and the control group (22 patients); the two groups were found to be well matched for symptoms and laboratory results (blood and urine tests). Both groups followed a regulated diet during the study, but one group received acupuncture. Electrical stimulation of the needles was used (this method replaces twirling the needle by hand and provides a pulsating stimulus that can be continued for the entire treatment period). Acupuncture was administered once a day for 30 days. The main acupuncture points used were quchi (LI-11), sanyinjiao (SP-6), zusanli (ST-36), and yishu (special diabetes point located at 1.5 cun lateral to the lower border of the spinous process of the 8th thoracic vertebra). Supplemental points include yuji (LU-10), guanyuan (CV-4), and baihui (GV-20).
For the control group, a well-known herbal pill, Xiaoke Wan or Diabetes Pill, was administered. This pill had been the subject of earlier study and the level of effectiveness was already established. The patients were not using diabetes drugs during the trial except for 8 patients who required insulin injections.
To evaluate the effects of treatment, three levels of responses were defined. Patients who experienced markedly effective results were those who had their initial symptoms essentially disappear by the end of the one month treatment and their fasting blood-sugar levels had dropped below 130 (or the blood sugar two hours after a meal would be below 150). Further, the 24-hour, urine-sugar content was reduced by 30% or more at the end of treatment compared to beginning of treatment. These patients were not "cured" of diabetes but they showed very evident improvements. For those deemed effectively treated (not markedly effective), symptoms were improved but not gone, and fasting blood-sugar levels dropped to below 150 (or two hours after meals below 180), and the 24-hour, urinary-sugar excretion declined by at least 10% from initial values (but not up to 30%). If these standards could not be met, then the treatment was deemed ineffective. All but two of the patients showed declines in blood sugar and urinary sugar excretion and improvements in symptoms. More than one-third of the patients had marked improvement.
For the 38 participants in the acupuncture group, there were 25 cases rated markedly effective and 10 cases rated effective: nearly 2/3 of the patients treated showed marked improvement and only three patients failed to respond. Further, it was reported that the patients receiving acupuncture experienced a statistically significant decline in cholesterol, triglycerides, and beta-lipoproteins.
Most acupuncturists in the U.S. have not been called upon to treat many patients with diabetes, mainly because of the misconception that acupuncture is not suitable for that disorder. Nonetheless, acupuncturists are in a position to provide expert treatment because the points to be needled are also used (in various other combinations) for treating other disorders. For example, the acupuncture point zusanli (called Stomach-36; located on the lower leg) is one of the most commonly used points for chronic diseases and is used especially when the disease is obviously affected by dietary factors. All of the acupuncture points listed above have been used in the U.S. and other countries. The needling techniques reported for the diabetes treatments are also essentially the same as used world-wide, without requiring special additional training.
OH,,, Great I found the article above online for you here link I am only tyring to help you with alternatives Please understand. link or link
*PRAYS* Forgive me Lord, for I am a clumsy clod and this may not be as silver tongued as I would have hoped it to be. Please give me the grace to help heal Bobcat and glory be to you! Amen!
One of the things we do have control over is our own attitude ok!
So when I read this ...
Where do I go from here because I can not get any lower and up is something I need help with. I just do not think that Wrabbit is strong enough to help me get out of this depression. Maybe it is time I concede the fact that I am not needed in my families life. *crying all over my keyboard*
I don't know how to do this. Catherine
Bullsh!t. Your compass is broken. Let me reorient and recalibrate that for you ...
You are deeply needed by your family. I am 43yrs old and I still need both my parents.
I need you because we need wrabbit, your other half, who by chance saved me from certain death by leading me to HH where I have received the love and attention [social interaction] that I NEED for my mental health to be healthy!
Bet you didn't even know that somehow you saved my life.
So you have to be strong for wrabbit [and your son] to be strong so that we at HH can be strong so that I can be strong so that I can support you to be mentally strong ok. Like NOW!
The only one who can get you out of this depression IS YOU. (with a little help from your friends)
You need to value yourself MORE!
I lived in a commune for a decade and during that time I used to have to take care of an elderly lady who was wheelchair bound and she took care of all the communities finances [she had excellent credit rating] and the minor paper work she did was highly valued by everyone.
Without her there was no commune ... we wouldn't have been able to afford it!
Without you there is no Bobcat/Wrabbit +1 son family and without that family my own future is greatly at risk!
I value you deeply and we don't even know each other!
Personal Disclosure: And because I am scared to death I am going to resort to the good old human tactic of threats ... don't make me swim the pacific and come and slap some sense into you because wrabbit would have to shoot me!
Please just set your mind to it .. its that simple .. its a mindset and no matter what happens you're golden if you stay stuck to what ever you put you mind to , your heart will soon follow along behind.

Nugget is 100% right. It looks like it's time to ask for medical help. When everything fails, when life is too overwhelming, do that little step and ask for help.
There is no shame in that whatsoever. I've been admitted years back, due to a feeling of worthlessness and acute signs of depression. My long stay in the ward was necessary so they could find the right medication but it saved my life. It literally did. Call for help, please.

Bobcat, it sounds like you may be at the breaking point. You need to talk to someone NOW!
If you can't find it in your heart to call your own personal doctor, then PLEASE use the number below. It is a suicide prevention hot line. Even if you aren't to that point, (but it sounds like you are) these people have counselors who can help you on the phone.
I had to call them for my husband several years ago, and they are GREAT! They can also help Wrabbit to know what he could be doing for you, or how to deal with this situation himself, if he needs it.
Yes My Dear Bobcat, Take Charge of Your life Now, Make Those Calls and talk to people who understand. You're an Important Being, Yes, Your Life Force is Part Of This Planet and All The Lives You Touch. Just Relax and clear your mind and make the call and take charge, take control, There are Alternative Treatments that Western Doctors are just in the last 15 years coming to Respect and Refer Patients to.
First thing is to do My Friend is to Call those numbers Nugget gave you.
That anger you have is making things worse. You need to forget about the anger and try to get a cheery attitude. You heal faster if you are not producing stress hormones.
To help things work better, you need to reduce the prepared foods laden with unknown chemistry and increase your consumption of cooked veggies. Frozen veggies cooked three times a week should help a lot. You do not need to eat veggies every day, but they do help if eaten more often. Potatoes are not veggies, they are tubers. I'm talking about veggies that grow above ground.
Diabetes can be made worse by consuming too much glutamate. An imbalance of neurochemicals can cause many problems. I do not know what meds you were on before, but some of them make diabetes worse. Too much carbs can make diabetes worse the most, and some oils can do the same thing. It depends on which enzymes you may have a deficiency in or if you can not excrete some of the metabolic byproduct chemistry your body creates. Your kidneys can excrete the sugars but they need to be stimulated. Since you are stuck in a wheelchair I guess you can't work up a sweat to excrete the byproducts of sugar through the skin. If you are starting to get the old person smell, then you may need a molybdenum supplement and need to reduce your carb intake somewhat. Try eating oatmeal a couple times a week, and eat more nuts. If you have a problem with a ragweed allergy, then don't eat sunflower seeds because there is often a histamine reaction to sunflower products with the ragweed allergy. B6 could be deficient or B12. The blood test can show normal but the body will not utilize these and it can make people crabby. I can go on and on with possible things to alter in the diet but there are lots of possible reasons that your sugar isn't working right. Metaformin may help and taurine which is like glyburide might also work.
Your doctor may have some ideas and I wouldn't be drinking energy drinks with taurine if you are on a diabetes med. You should be discussing this with your doctor.

Wow Bobcat! you sure have a lot of friends!
I related your problem to Boy In A Dress this morning, whilst he was cleaning the two windows of his shed and after tossing a soap -filled sponge at me and giggling to himself, he said this. (I believe he was attempting Ninurta's drawl during his averment)
'Well... 'Ah reckon that the anger-gnome that sits on her shoulder goes quiet when she reads the many concerned replies on yer' website -thingy...' he said over his shoulder. '...Tell the gal that today's task is to remember a favourite song from when she was fourteen and sing it to herself when she's feelin' low'
I showed my confusion at his statement towards Man-Girl with his back to me and put on my best frown to indicate my discombobulated condition. BIAD tugged down the hem of his dress to hide his bare ass, sighed and then continued.
'Take a paper bag... yer, know, the brown ones...? and stick the spiteful ogre into it...' he growled and flicked a strand of hair away in his gleaming reflection. '...Anger-Gnomes seem to be rife these days' he whispered and I believe he was talking more to himself at that point, than to me.
'Stick that sucka in there and shove it on a shelf somewhere, somewhere she can get to it later' he said in a louder tone and rinsed the rag that doubled as a wash-cloth when he annually bathed.
I nodded at the grinning idiot and began to turn when he warned me with these loud words. 'You tell her to do it physically -not mentally. This Bobcat-chick sees her problem as a physical and so, the remedy lies there'
I thanked him and leaving the shadow of his little shed, he added: 'Tell her to sing that song as she does it and remember, fourteen... not fifteen or thirteen...' His next words I will not relate here because at that moment, he accidently put his high-heeled foot into the bucket of water.
The weird-thing was, he began humming a forgotten tune and swiftly wiped something away on his shoulder.
Well the good news is I am still here for another day.
I am going to try to look at things one day at a time even one hour at a time. Maybe even one minute at a time.
I am still in a pretty severe depression but it is not as bad as it was the other day. I am not in as bad of state of mind so I will be here on HH for a while longer if that is ok with you all.
With some help with Wrabbit I am slowly getting my mind/mental health back to a statue quo and after that I will try to get happy again.
The way I look at things (and I'm nuts, by the way) is that we are always happy. We just have layers that cover it up sometimes. It's up to you, your friends and family to remove those layers covering up your happiness.
Bobcat, What a relief to hear you are doing better- even if it's just a wee bit!
Anybody in their right mind would be deppressed after going through the things you've dealt with recently! Keep fighting, friend- even if you have to do it second by second. Your fans here at HH are cheering for you, and we'll all be here to help in any way we can.
Well the good news is I am still here for another day.

bobcat
I am happy to hear it Bobcat!
Sometimes, when that is all we can do, that is what we do. Just get through the next minute, holding desperately to those things we need to live for to make it that minute. Once you make it one minute, your next goal is another minute. Then someday, you can start setting your goals at 5 minutes at a time.
Life goes on, and there is so much to stick around for. It gets better in time and I trust with all the love and support you have, from your husband, from your child - they are always our child no matter their ages - and your extended friends here and elsewhere, you will make it through this bad time.
You are worth it, and you have more worth than you realize now. You are intelligent, and capable no matter what the limitations are.
Well the good news is I am still here for another day.
