adjensen, I think that many of these whack jobs are nothing more than copy-cat killers. Their little pathetic lives are so bad that they feel that they must end it all and take others with them.
Stopping this is a impossibility.
The problem has been created, nurtured, grown and now it cannot be stopped.
Beware the man who has one gun, he probably knows how to use it.
Well, it may be that the problem could be solved by saying "mass shootings should not be promoted by the media." Take away the infamy of mass murderers, maybe you stop, or limit, the claim to infamy of these crazies.
That's what I mean... we need to think about this stuff, instead of having a knee jerk reaction (liberal) or abject dismissal (conservative) of the very real problem that crazy people (even undiagnosed crazy people) with guns are dangerous.

Another case of some nutjob that shouldn't have had access to weapons. I am not for gun banning but I am for gun owner screening.
You want a gun?
Mental issues? Yes = No. Previous criminal record? Yes = No. History of drug consumption? Yes = No. Violent type? Yes = No. Medicated? Yes = No. Like to promote your hatred on line to anyone who cares to witness it through social medias? Yes = No.
Your government is going to have to do something about this, not by swaying the good citizen of its rights but to regulate laws for young people wanting weapons.
I think that there is enough evidence now to prove that mental illness and guns don't mix very well.

I would think that someone wanting the right to own a weapon should be able to prove a certain mental stability and a certain maturity.
I would not call it privilege but you might be right. As an example, we yell on rooftops (here in Canada anyway) that immigrants wanting in should be screened not for any of us getting future surprises.
Why couldn't that same line of thinking be applied to someone wanting to become a gun owner? It just makes sense to me.

I think we understand that this kind of killing stems from different motivations, and sometimes no particular motivation is needed. Perhaps boredom, a need for something to do, has figured as the cause for one or more multiple killings. This is where my problem is with Liberals on gun control.
The Liberal logic is simple, ban all guns, and people won't be killed with guns. I'm a little surprised that they still hve the courge to advance that argument. I'm even more surprised that the president (I'll go back to capitalizing it when we have a President.) keeps reciting it regardless of the situation.
Mental health issues, either mild such as jealousy, or severe such as complete mania, are factors in a number of these, I assume drug use is sometimes a factor as well. But I understand that dealing with these problems is more difficult and expensive than advocating gun control and rounding up the people who have guns. Forgive me for saying this, but I wonder if there are some liberals who are concerned with the student's deaths only if they advance the gun control program. There are some, witness Planned Parenthood, who treat life and death casually.
If Liberals (or Progressives, their name changes confuse me), have a choice between spending billions to rebuild our mental health system, and issuing an order which protects the establishment from gun violence, raises a huge amount of money in fines (or the resale of confiscated guns overseas), and provides an excuse for every home to be searched on suspicion of gun ownership, which will the Progressives choose?
The problem is that Liberals and Conservatives have different ideas of what the problem is, hence, different solutions. Arguing for gun control only makes sense if the problem is access to guns. I, and I believe most of the country, think Liberals are solving the wrong problem.
Back on topic, if the shooter was motivated by religious concerns to single out Christians for death, it doesn't help for the president to say he was a "disturbed young man." By missing the problem, he can't get the solution right.

This I disagree with. I actively tell the truth about my feelings towards the frakking traitorous scum that some call the POTUS. I WILL dance a jig of joy when he dies and I truly hope that it is the most painful and torturous of deaths. And burns in hell afterwards. I see him as the enemy. Nothing more, nothing less. And I hope it happens like...yesterday. His best buy date has expired as far as I am concerned.
So, according to you, because I just posted the above, I should not be allowed to own a firearm? Last I checked, killing stupid people, even if they are posing as POTUS, is still illegal and there is one thing I do abide by to a degree. The law.
Do I HATE the asshole! Yes! Yes! Yes!
Will I kill the asshole? No! No! No!

I'm with you there, Marc.
"I'm an American, therefore I deserve a gun" needs to end. It's a terrible policy. Crazy people need to be kept away from guns.
I HATE to revisit the Second Amendment, but I think it's about time to.
Those of you who reject that, who think that the Second Amendment trumps all, you need to come up with an argument that addresses the issue of "crazy people need to be kept away from guns."
Mandatory government screenings of sanity? Guessing that's not on the table, as it shouldn't be.

If we look back on all the mass shootings, they have targeted children. Every child growing up in America today is going to have the dread of 'it could happen to me' in their subconscious.
When these children come in to adulthood, they will have had enough propaganda shoved down their throat to be convinced outlawing weapons will make for a safer society.
My grandchild goes to a tiny school in very rural America, and they have constant lock-down drills.
Durring a high-speed police chase recently, all of the schools went in to lockdown. The mindset is being proffered through all forms of media, and fear is reinforcing it in our youth.
The youth of today will be swayed into the majority being for a gun ban.

LOL...
Doug, when is the last time you posted a picture of yourself on some social media, holding different poses with your guns while promoting hate?
I am sure you haven't done so but most of these sickos that kill (especially in schools) all have that modus operandi, or just about. We're no different when it comes to that, nutjob Gill that made a mass shooting here at Dawson college was another whackjob that perfectly fits that profile.

I'd rather have freedom and take he risk that freedoms brings with having the occasional dirtbag asshole than have some faceless government entity determine my mental health. Imagine, a conservative government deeming liberal thought "irregular" or a liberal government thinking "conservative" thought irregular.
I'd rather have freedom and take he risk that freedoms brings with having the occasional dirtbag asshole than have some faceless government entity determine my mental health.

Good point.
What would be the solution then?
Westworld, obviously.

Question 1. How are these people getting firearms?- Buying them legally at a store? illegally from the street? or is someone making the purchases for them?
IF buying legally, the screenings are a failure but im not comfortable with the gov deciding who is mentally unfit because if it was up to them everyone would be unfit.
If someone is making the purchases for them, why are they not being held accountable?
If purchasing off the back of a van, well... that will always be an option for anyone with money
