Man singing love song to wife on deathbed will have you fighting back tears
Before Howard, 92, left to fight in WWII, his wife Laura sang ‘You’ll Never Know’ to him, to leave him in no doubt how much he meant to her.
Now aged 93, she was lying on her deathbed when the couple sang it back to each other.
One minute into the video, filmed by their granddaughter, Laura sings: ‘You outta know, for haven’t I told you.’
And Howard continues the line: ‘Soooo a million or more times.’
It was caught on film by Erin Solari, who posted the moving scene on Facebook.
She wrote: ‘This was the song my grandmother would sing when my grandfather went away to fight in World War II. It has been their love song ever since.
‘She is 93, he is 92, and they have been married for 73 years! Now he is the one singing to her as she prepares to go away.’
Erin said she was happy for the moment to be shared, stating: ‘Our family is happy to share the love that we have for each other with anyone who will enjoy it.’
The couple’s friend Joy is quoted on littlethings.com stating: ‘This video brought up many emotions for me and obviously for so many others as well.
‘It has somehow captured in just a few minutes an entire lifetime between two people.
‘They have been each others witness for 73 years, growing up and growing old together, holding onto some memories that only the two of them share, each of them being proof to the other that those memories are real.’
