Barbershop Fined For Refusing To Cut Woman’s Hair

Explanation: I saw this same story earlier this month and the irony was that it was a female barber that made the decision to not cut her hair but this is after both her, the rejected customer, and her boyfriend booked to have their hair cut [in some manly styles I assume like a fade] so I do feel the barber shop seems to have wasted her time and that is probably worth a $750 fine.

Personal Disclosure: As a kid my parents dragged me to a His and Hers [that was the exact name] barbershop [in the front] salon [in the back] to have me and my two bro's hair cut [short back and sides] and it was like 2 different worlds.

I am unfortunately going to have to side with the barbershop that its a male customer only place and would remind the rejected lady customer that buyers need to beware.

This is a grey area of zoning laws for me as if they want to discriminate they can operate out of their homes privately BUT I wouldn't want unisex public toilets for obvious safety reasons and I feel that this comes under the area of grooming and should be gender segregated as well.

I think gyms, spas/salons/barbershops and private clubs [masons] etc. should be able to restrict their customer base to a gender they want to specifically serve and cater to and still utilize the general business district as these are not life important required for survival. Just have clear signs and warnings on all the entrances.

But I don't think super markets, gas stations or pharmacist/dentist/General Dr's [not a specialist like a gynacologist ok] get to discriminate as they are life important services we all need just to survive.

The barbershop should probably be more clear who they are prepared to service when bookings are made so as to avoid this petty BS.

I wanted to be ironic and go into a quilting store and ask for a prostate exam.

Sadly, they gave me one. (I'm seeing a counselor now and am in recovery)

But this is just as stupid!

It used to be if you didn't like the service offered, you went elsewhere. Now we're being forced to cater to the most extreem in society, so it's going to be an interesting future.

Between this, "Call Me Cait" and the ongoing debate over whether people should use the bathroom of the gender that they are identifying with on any given day, it seems like the assault on heterosexuality has moved into an assault on gender. I did kind of wonder what they would move to once they won the "gay marriage" debate, I guess this is it. Time will tell what comes of it, but it's darned sure to result in yet another version of America that isn't the America I grew up in.
