In this day and age, it is easy to follow the media train to see all cops as equal to the corrupt criminals with badges we see in headlines from that same media. Nice gig there huh? They make mountains out of mole hills, as often as they are accurate, then make a bank if people come running to see what the mountains are about. Outside the world of agenda driven news though? There is a two sided reality.
Not all cops are bad, and attacking all cops equally is just as ignorant, if not more so, than the Bubba-type police officers that generate the anti-cop uproar in the first place.
Take this example...
See what I mean? Who the man was, wasn't important. Nor did it matter for what he was there to do. In this case, arrest some loud mouth woman who had just violently attacked a man and still had a weapon visible. Kinda sounds like what we expect cops to be doing...doesn't it?
Cops are being tolerant ...for now.. but this won't last long if this kind of hazard continues. It won't likely be single cops getting more aggressive, either. This cop would have written his own death warrant, by the sound of it, if he'd come off any more aggressive than he was, after losing control to the crowd.
No..I predict cops will start making things like 2 man units and back-up showing available before rolling into a call (which may need it) a pre-requisite to doing their jobs. Cops still won't lose...and folks who think that can change that are simply delusional beyond reason for the basis of how and why society even works how it does. Cops can get FAR more thuggish and outwardly offensive in doing their routine jobs tho. Keep seeing mouthy kids damn near succeed in taking a prisoner from custody by force? See how the cops there show up to a similar call NEXT time..and the 10 times after that...before saying whether the initial fight was winning anything but doom on the long view.

If anything, this is surely what pisses me off the most. When ignorant punks go after 'anything in a Uniform', figuring they are all "pigs", they USUALLY end up getting the decent cops and the good family men who we wish were a HIGHER % on the departments than what they are.
The thugs and bully-boys have a much higher sense of self preservation at the expense of anyone or anything else, and are FAR less likely to be caught in a position for the public to get their hands on them this way...for that very reason.
Pay logic no mind tho right? If it wears a Uniform...attack it!

The officer stopped in the area of Prairie Road and Jacobs Way around 6:20 p.m. after spotting a large number of people in the street. He said that as he approached he saw a woman punch a man in the face, and he could see that the woman had a can of pepper spray.
The officer said that as he went to arrest the woman he was surrounded by a crowd that was voicing anti-police sentiments, including "We need to start killing these officers."

Police said the woman’s daughter was grabbing the officer while trying to free her mother. The officer said he tried to diffuse the situation by explaining to the crowd that the woman had just punched someone and was armed with pepper spray. Police said his words were ignored, and the struggle with the two people continued.

Police said a nearby resident who was not involved in the melee told a detective the officer who was battered has, in the past, done a great job reaching out to residents and communicating with the neighborhood.
