Remember ISIS threat to send 500,000 migrants to Europe?

In the first quarter of 2015, 185,000 migrants sought asylum in the European Union. That number is an 86 percent rise over the figures from 2014.

A majority of asylum seekers come from nations plagued by Islamic terrorism and sectarian conflict, such as Syria and Afghanistan. Many migrants also cross from Africa to Europe, landing in Italy and other Mediterranean countries.

The flood of immigrants from North Africa is increasingly seen as a threat to security in the EU because ISIS has been able to secure a foothold in the Libyan coastal town of Sirte.

ISIS fighters from Tunisia, Egypt, and other countries are flocking to help their affiliate in Libya cement their position, in order to use Libya as a staging ground for attacks across the Mediterranean.

Coninsx was very clear with reporters that here agency would not turn to inaction in response to this growing threat.

“We’re going after the criminals. We’re going after the money,” she said.

Earlier this year, Wikileaks published documents that allegedly show EU defense officials preparing for a drawn-out conflict with ISIS, including preparing for the possibility that ISIS terrorists would sneak into Europe with migrants.

“The potential presence of hostile forces, extremists, or terrorists such as Da’esh [the Arabic name for ISIS] should be taken into consideration,” when interacting with migrant vessels, the report recommended.

In May, Eurosceptic firebrand Nigel Farage, leader of the United Kingdom Independence Party, warned members of the European Parliament that ISIS would attempt to exploit the migrant situation.

“There is a real and genuine threat [to Europe]. When ISIS say they want to flood our continent with half a million Islamic extremists, they mean it. There is nothing in [the EU’s plan to deal with the migrant crisis] that will stop those people from coming.”

Between 2010 and 2013, the Obama administration imported almost 300,000 new immigrants from Muslim nations — more immigrants than the U.S. let in from Central America and Mexico combined over that period… Many of the recent Muslim immigrants are from terrorist hot spots like Iraq, where the Islamic State operates. From 2010-2013, Obama ushered in 41,094 Iraqi nationals from there… House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Mike McCaul called the new policy “a federally sanctioned welcome party to potential terrorists.”

Pew Research has estimated that immigration will cause the population of U.S. Muslims to more than double over the next two decades—from 2.6 million in 2010 to 6.2 million in 2030. This demographic change is entirely the product of legal admissions–that is, it is a formal policy of the federal government adopted by Congress.

Another major source of Middle Eastern immigration into the United States is done through our nation’s refugee program. Every year the United Stated admits 70,000 asylees and refugees. Arabic is the most common language spoken by refugees, and 91.4 percent of refugees from the Middle East are on food stamps.

The importation of Middle Eastern immigrants through the nation’s refugee program has led to the development of pockets of radicalized communities throughout the United States.

Minnesota, for instance, which has the largest Somali population in the country, has struggled to stem terror recruiting. The Minneapolis Star Tribune recently reported that six men from Minnesota were arrested and charged attempting to fight alongside ISIS. During the last two years alone, more than 20 Somali-Americans from Minnesota have left the U.S. to fight alongside terrorists under the banner of ISIL.

Similarly, as National Review has reported, “Dearborn, Michigan is home to just under 100,000 people, about 40 percent of whom are Muslim. In 2013, a leaked government document revealed that more people from Dearborn were on the federal terrorist watch list than from any other city except New York.”
