Japan is scrapping its first attempt at a logo for the 2020 Olympics. In fact...the story I just found seems to be just the most recent downside to a string of bad news about Japan's Olympic situation.
Here is the most recent....
Tokyo 2020 Olympics logo scrapped
Ouch... outright stealing art from others isn't nice. Nope.. Not nice at all. Of course..they compound it by, even now, failing to mention the name or details of who the art was stolen from.
After a bit of looking tho, I did find a source willing to show the offending comparison and just HOW rank and rotten this was for lifting another man's design work.

Oh...yeah..there isn't even much to debate there, is there? They just moved the two side elements, slapped a red ball on it, and gave it a black background. Theft isn't THAT clear very often. OUCH!

...and the award for understatement of 2015 goes to........... ^ ^ ^
This is the second time tho...
Tokyo 2020 Olympics logo revealed: 'Pretty neat' or 'truly awful'?

Oh.. I see. So that is what the pieces mean, eh? ...or something like that. They show another graphic for this one that looks more than a little similar and perhaps..borrowed from. At least we see the black background now!

Double Ouch! ...and we'll make it a Triple for good measure by just how bad that logo really is. The last story there shows past years logos from other nations. London is probably worse...but not my much. The two taken together do show that artistic talent isn't a requirement for logo creation anymore, and that is for sure.
The London one looks like someone needs to take a break from the narcotic stimulants ..just a wee bit??...and the Japanese one looks like someone needs to TAKE some stimulants. One is hyper-crazy..and the other is boring to the point of sleepy...AND half stolen.
Yup Triple Ouch and a Gold Medal for this one! (smirk)
...and if that all wasn't bad enough for poor Japan? They are having stadium problems too. Major major ones....as in..having to start ALL over again.
Oh no, tell me it ain't so, Shinzo!
Okay... Dumb question here.. If they haven't even started the process to select a replacement ..how in the heck can that politician confidently project a completion date beyond one game, but in time for another? Does the Japanese PM have a time machine in his back pocket? A psychic in the pantry? A witch in his ward....er...nvm. I'll just assume he's being a typical politician. Safe bet, eh?

Now I am so glad to know that Japan has solved all its major boggles of the modern day. Economy must be blazing a path for others to follow...while pesky annoyances like war and peace to situations n the region must have settled and made the massive Japanese push for military build up un-necessary and moot in the end. Surely...all that is true..or we'd never have a thing like this coming up..right?
I mean, even by the formerly affluent standards of the Japanese....1-2bn spent on a place to play a game seems a wee much. The games must go on tho...right?

Tokyo 2020 Olympics logo scrapped
The Games organising committee said there were too many doubts over the emblem for it to be used.
Logo designer Kenjiro Sano admitted copying online material when questioned by organisers, Japanese media reported. A Belgian graphic artist had complained that his design was stolen.

Tokyo 2020 Olympics logo revealed: 'Pretty neat' or 'truly awful'?
Tokyo has unveiled the logo for the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The Olympic emblem is the letter T, with upended quote marks to represent equality, organisers say.
"The red of the circle represents the power of every beating heart," the organising committee says, though it also, conveniently, resembles part of the Japanese flag.

The Japanese government has decided to scrap its controversial design for the stadium for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics.
Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said his government would "start over from zero".

Mr Abe says the new stadium will still be completed in time for the games.
However, the delay means that the stadium will no longer be ready in time for the 2019 Rugby World Cup, which Japan is also hosting.

Under the original plans, Tokyo's stadium would have been bigger and more expensive than any of its recent predecessors.
It drew increasing criticism as estimated costs spiralled from $1bn to $2bn.
