Probably nothing is going to happen until the first shot in anger is fired in the Pacific.. Even then I bet there will be negotiations until our little ball called earth is divided up into nice large trading sections. IE this is ours and that is yours kinda like a board game..

WASHINGTON: The United States is considering economic sanctions against Chinese firms and individuals that profited from cyber attacks on American targets, a senior administration official said on Monday (Aug 31).

Following a spate of hacking attacks on US companies and government agencies that have been widely blamed on China, the official told AFP that Washington would respond "in a manner and timeframe of our choosing."

In April, President Barack Obama signed an executive order paving the way for tougher sanctions against "malicious cyberactors."

"The administration is pursuing a comprehensive strategy to confront such actors," the official said, confirming a report that first appeared in the Washington Post. That strategy includes diplomatic engagement, trade policy tools, law enforcement mechanisms, and imposing sanctions on individuals or entities.

Sure make the Yuan weaker by not buying Chinese goods making them end up in over supply due to sudden drop in demand not foreseen in the futures market months ago therefor making those goods cheaper for everybody else in the world such as the other BRICS countries whilst also making the USD higher by being forced to stimulate internal economy to compensate for lack of cheap Chinese products to fuel the USA service economy consumer base and also making USA goods cost far more. More expensive products bought far less often means far less tax $ from the growth economy and far more tax $ required in the internal welfare economy [more foodstamps etc.] which means need to sell more bonds and without China buying them and the USA grandkids already owing trillions the USA will have to borrow from so far in the future that it is borrowing money from people who don't even exist yet and wont for another 25yrs and that is 25yrs before they start paying proper taxes . :booboo:

Obama will do it because it meets his socialist goals and his masters in China will agree to take the political fallout because it too suits their needs to overthrow the USA with a communist socialist plot! :kungfu:

The roles are reversing since Nixon decoupled the U$D from Gold and went to China for trade deals. China was communist and the USA was capitalist ..now the pendulum is swinging hard the other way. :chin:

What does it cost to rent/buy a house in these empty Chinese built and owned cities because that is clearly the brave new world of the future?

It run ya about u.s 400k for house there ........ which not bad as many built to be luxury homes ...... though out in small village can get cheaper house ...... overall not bad life in china though gets too damn cold in winter ...... also outside the big cities theres lots beautiful countryside and historic places to see ...... if you sing karaoke will meet lots friends that will have fun trying drink you under table ........

I almost hope China does turn around and school little Obama on what sanctions REALLY are...and how political and economic power is REALLY defined.

Once..we had such power in this nation..but a ghetto boy from Jakarta pissed it away like the remains of a drinking binge down the gutter.

I really would like to see that little boy get OWNED like the punk he is..at least once..before he is allowed to leave his seat of corruption. Russia isn't strong enough and no one else in the world has the position. China is unique in the leverage they have on Western markets tho..and yeah...they could break Obama's little house of cards like a petulant child if they have a mind to.

It would hurt us to..of course..but we've BEEN hurting for Obama's 'vanity' since the potentate took office. I'd be HAPPY to hurt a little more..if it means he gets politically stomped like the little roach he is.

We'll get over it as a nation. He wouldn't, as a man. That would make it worth some serious pain to see.
