Mom of Suspect in Texas Deputy Darren Goforth's Killing Says

A serial criminal has been arrested in connection with the 'senseless' and 'cold-blooded' killing of a sheriff's deputy who was shot dead during a gas station ambush.

Darren Goforth, a 47-year-old father of two, was pumping fuel into his patrol car at a Chevron station Friday night when a man crept up behind him and opened fire.

Shannon J Miles, 30, who has a long criminal record which includes firearms offenses, was arrested on Friday night and has been charged with capital murder. He is being held in Harris County Jail and is expected to be arraigned on Monday.



After Goforth fell to the ground, the suspect allegedly kept firing bullets into his body in what colleagues described as a 'cold-blooded and cowardly' execution.

No definitive motive has been put forward for the killing - but Harris County sheriff Ron Hickman pointed the finger at the Black Lives Matter protest group for their 'out of control rhetoric' against law enforcement.

On Monday’s broadcast of Fox News Channel’s “The Five,” “Red Eye” host Tom Shillue sounded off on the controversial Black Lives Matter movement after the killing of Harris County, TX deputy Darren Goforth.

Shillue argued it was time to act aggressively against the Black Lives Matter movement and suggested they are creating a threat to public safety.

“ think it’s shut-it-down time,” Shillue said. “I think it’s ridiculous. And I think that this is criminal stuff. These organizations — it’s not a civil rights movement. Call it what it is. It’s a lie from the beginning. I’m going to put a lot of responsibility, not just a little bit attributed. This is a violent group. I think it’s time to shut them down.”

“And the federal government’s not going to do it,” he continued. “I think the state governors should go in when there’s protests — shut them down. People are drunk on rights in this country. These people are violent. It’s horrible, and I think they should go in there and do whatever they have to. I don’t know if it’s RICO laws or something. I think it’s time to arrest these leaders because they’re threatening people and they’re causing violence.”
