That could be a real dangerous situation. A kid without a sense of consequence could pretty much chase/knock someone right off a thing like that, I'd bet.

Perhaps part of this could be solved by hard coded/factory and chip-set altitude limitations? 400 feet is the current private limitation, as I understand it? Those seem to average a bit over 300 feet for the tower height, but maybe 400 feet is still a bit high for the general public 'toy/hobby' class of drones? (That is REALLY high from that perspective..if FAA rules allow almost 200 feet higher?)

Does that thing have an elevator?

It looks like a hard coded altitude chip would also require an altimeter, to know when it had reached the limit. Such a contraption, set for an altitude of 400 feet, would not even leave the ground here. matter of fact, it would have to bore a hole in the ground to get DOWN TO 400 feet.

I think 400 feet AGL is the current limit for private drones, and Amazon, I believe it was, has been lobbying against that limit, something to do with a "delivery by drone" program they've been looking into.

As an aside, a neighboring county is the only county in VA to have a government drone. The sheriff's dept. has it, and the state won't allow it to fly at all. Flying government drones is illegal in VA - for the time being. As with all things government, that is subject to change, and I expect it will.
