The mrs is a huge quilter, so much so we built her a 30 X 12 quilt studio on the house, and I just finished her design wall. Her favorite is Applique, she has made some seriously beautiful quilts and her prefered designer is Sue Garmin. Your picture looks great any quilter would be proud.
Thank you, Marlingrace! I so admire quilters who do hand work, and I know how hard it is to applique! I CAN sew by hand, but it doesn't look that great.... My motto is 'if I can't do it on the machine, I won't do it at all'.
Eight years ago my hands started locking up- just wouldn't 'move'! An Xray finally showed that my ulnar bones were too long, and that explained the life-long trouble I'd hand with doing tasks that required fine motor skills! By then, I had learned to use my sewing machine to do anything I want, so I don't think I'll ever perfect hand piecing!
Would be great if your wife would let you post a picture of her work!
AiRen,that curtain is beautiful! How I would love to see it in person!
Wellllllllllllllll
IF, IF, IF, IF . . .
AND WHEN . . .
I get the contraption moved over to Dad's and going again, I'd be willing to weave you a couple of place-mats of it. The on-loom width is 25". But it shrinks down to about place-mat size.
Just don't hold your breath! Lots of priorities above that around here.
@airen, Oh my goodness that is beautiful. How incredibly talented you are, and the design is wonderful. I'm curious, do you set out with a plan or do you work off the cuff ?
I've done quite a bit of loom work and tend to lost in the patterns that seem to make themselves.
@marlingrace, I would love to see some of your wife's hand work, it's really an amazing skill.
As I was saying before, cloth and I don't mix. Try as I might all my artistic endeavors seem to be of the messy sort.
AiRen, that is beautiful work!!!!!!!!! Reminds me of smocking. My Sister used to do some amazing smocking. Anyway, love the design and colors in your piece!!!!
I put together my wine glasses with the snowflake pattern on them. I tied on a silk white pointsetter with silver in the center and added a candy cane...tied them on the stem with a sparkly red ribbon. They came out sooooo pretty! Found a red metal basket to put them in. Just have to get the wine now.
Been sorting through my vast array of handmade jewelry pieces. Trying to figure out which pieces to give to whom. I have plain jewelry boxes and I glue a beautiful picture on top, so even the box is pretty. :)
How wonderful Night Star. I just love handmade gifts. They always feel so special, personal.
Also, the idea of keepsake boxes, glasses and vases, like AiRens beautiful work is hopeful. Something beautiful to be filled with beautiful and special things still to come.

No Nugget I haven't. I think there are tutorials on youtube on how to make boxes. I usually get mine for free. I tell my family and friends to save their jewelry or gift boxes and then I decorate them. But making your own boxes is cool too!!

Hey Nugget I haven't forgot about the pictures, I have just been a busy boy. Will take some pics this weekend when we open the glass chest.... Sorry to hear about the hands I don't know what I would do without full use of mine, when I lived in Ca. friends called me Mr. fixit, I can build anything, fabricate anything, and have made some of the craziest things. My sweetheart calls me Macgyver as well. I have always worked with my hands, I love making things. Congrats to you for not letting it stop your creative endeavors.
Thanks, MarlinG, but no need to be sorry about my hands. They quit working, so the doctor cut a section out from my ulnar bones, and they work again! They just don't like prolonged tasks like hand sewing, and neither do I....
I think I'm just lazy; if there's a quicker, easier way to do something, I'll find it! :)

Lazy?? Heck no, thats why I have power tools. It makes us more efficient.
Had my sweetheart hold up a quilt top she is almost finished with. Will get some out at a later date we are having new floors put in, my garage and office are almost finished the place looks like a bomb went off and you can't find anything. Maybe another 3 weeks and we are done!
Oh,my goodness! That is absolutely gorgeous! Your sweetheart must have the patience of Job!
How I wish I could see that in person! It's pretty rare to see such finely detailed applique quilts outside of books on antique quilts. If that quilt was entered in our local county fair, I'm sure it would take the Sweepstakes Award! Thank you for posting that picture; I can't wait to see more! After the holidays, perhaps? :)
