This is just incredible. Judges aren't (in theory) stupid people. Racism is, by nature, ignorance almost defined by text book terms. Stupidity, when someone ought to know better by education, and a Judge sure ought to know better.
When I've personally referred to Greece and 'the Greeks' I hope people would understand I mean the Greek Government in Athens, as much as it's Washington and Moscow when referring to the 'Russians & Americans' in political terms.
This Judge wasn't even considering any such distinctions, from the bench no less, during an active proceeding. ON the record!
How do you define bigot? Hmm.. Well, I suppose 'ol Mr. Webster would have one interpretation....but I'd say that Judge defines it well enough for me. At least in one bunny's opinion.

He really was pretty clear in making it personal beyond all intelligent reason.
I'd say the apology would be acceptable if it hadn't been made on the record, from the bench, and as a part of his duties as a Judge. Given that? Is that level of racist ignorance appropriate to have on the bench of any court? I'd say not, personally.
