As much as the North Korean leader seems to like to hear his own voice, for how often he's making ridiculous threats? There was actual, real life escalation here...and serious injury has already been a part of it. It would have been death, surely, if it weren't for the miracles of modern medicine.

One reasons, perhaps, is that statement would be realistic enough to see Kim do for small strikes or artillery hits into Antennas/radio broadcast buildings. The little nut COULD do that much, and that would probably be enough for the South to react....harshly.
This one sure would have been nice to prevent from getting nuclear technology...not just wringing our hands after total, unmitigated failure of "containment" policy (but Iran is gonna work, right? lol)
South Korea ramped up border security Tuesday as military tensions flared following landmine blasts blamed on North Korea, and the presidential office in Seoul demanded a formal apology.

North Korea on Saturday threatened South Korea with "indiscriminate" military strikes unless it halts cross-border propaganda broadcasts, and issued fresh nuclear weapons warnings against the United States.

Failure to do so would trigger "an all-out military action of justice to blow up all means for 'anti-North psychological warfare' in all areas along the front," the command said in a statement carried by the North's official KCNA news agency.
