How to uninstall windows 10 and downgrade

Umm... I hate to say it, like a traitor in the night...but I went to Windows 10 last night. Upgrade even...not a clean install. Basically everything that shouldn't work well......but I have 0 complaints so far.

What pushed me to do it was a series of vids by a guy out there looking at gaming on 10. He has a whole series of vids with games we'd know, and one vid per game. Far Cry 4, Hitman Absolution and others. Not only running smoother...but better than I've ever seen and he had equipment below mine. A couple other things in research and the repeated reference to this as closer to a "Windows 8.5" than a whole new version evolution sold me.

I downloaded the upgrade, as instructed. Download almost took longer than the process of upgrade, and this was the EASIEST upgrade I've ever seen from Microsoft. It actually WORKED too!!

Actual upgrade was 90% automated with a couple screens asking simply enough questions or leave them alone and the defaults all work just fine too.

As for the update issue? I'll jump to Professional for the version next month at latest, and that DOES give me control over update methods and version level to initiate one (i.e... every update Boobus Americanus gets..or JUST the time tested, stable ones in a "business track" approach?).

I'll let everyone know how this goes, but even games I read I should expect problems with (Space Engineers as one) have had NO problems. All programs loaded, icons were where they should have been and again, 90-95% of settings migrated in the automated process.

Also... Edge, or the new browser is REALLY NEAT!! It won't replace anything for what I use now...but it is a NICE additional tool for annotated screen shots in a matter of a couple seconds, to any page on the net, by the look of it.

I DO NOT recommend others follow me like lemmings, if this ends up being a cliff I jumped too soon on...but so far, it is what people have said. It's Windows 8 with all the B.S. problems solved and the issues removed. Including the all important Start Menu and getting rid of the stupid Charms bar for something actually useful!

I'll update as I see and experience more with it.

I've finally downloaded it and installed it. Firefox started crashing fairly quickly after that. So I went on Mozilla and they have a feature called repair it. I've done so and haven't had a problem since.

I was on windows 7 before and for me anyway, this is way better than I thought it would be.

So far.

I went into the start menu and uninstalled a lot of apps I will never use and turned off others I don't need. I really do not want to look at things that the computer thinks I want to look at because of my past searching history. I do not want suggestions. I look up both sides of things and if you look up one side the computer chooses for you to keep looking at that side. There are search engines that do that, they save your history and make selections based on your past searches. That really sucks, even if you are going in the right direction it is good to know why others are going in the wrong direction and sometimes you can find relevant reasoning that applies sometimes.

But the search engines and programming is polarizing everyone and society itself is polarizing itself, forming a consensus based on it's beliefs. Just try searching for possible reasons cigarette smoking can be good for you. There are a real lot of good reasons but none of them apply if you smoke more than around twelve cigarettes a day. Much less than the average smoker. But it is nice to know these things, a cigarette can save you from anthrax, sarin gas, and some other nerve gasses by tying to the receptors on your cells and keeping them from shutting down and killing you. Bit that only applies if you are exposed to these gasses, it is the nicotine that is doing the job, not the cigarette itself. You could keep one of those smokeless cigarettes in the house just in case with a sealed container of liquid. Cigarettes are also one of the best treatments for treating skitzo. Maybe some people who don't smoke should smoke. Now the medications for that actually interfere with the methylation cycle just like tobacco does. It is a nitrogen compound or other chemistry that reacts with the methyl to form ammonia in the blood which can buffer the energy. But medication for this is plagued with problems because some people cannot break down these chemicals.

So try to find the good things about tobacco in a society that is so against tobacco. Try to find the good things about drinking alcohol in a society where half the people have been conditioned to believe that even one drink makes you drunk enough not to drive. Alcohol is a medicine.

So from what I said above you can see I do not like to have anyone controlling what I desire to see, especially society. Since they are looking at the desires of people in society coupled with the desires of special interest groups, I want little to do with technology created to steer us.

Windows 10 isn't too bad if you shut things off.

If all you do with your PC is surf the web, check your e-mail and post on forums such as HH and your computer is working just fine then personally I would ride it until the wheels fall off! If you use your PC for work or school, etc. then you might consider looking into something with a bit more speed and storage, but just remember that if you feel inclined you can always add more memory to it far cheaper than purchasing a new unit provided what you have works fast enough for what you do on it.

Charles, if I might make a suggestion? Drop $50 when you can and replace your C:\ with a Solid State Drive. It won't just radically boost performance across the board from disk access speeds, but you are VERY light on RAM with 2gb, and without knowing more about your system? I would not take it as a given it can be upgraded. Depends on the maker and model specifics. Upgrading old ram and staying affordable for the improvement is another whole matter.

However, the 300+ % acceleration of some areas in your system performance will include (but not quite translate to that % of change) your Virtual Memory or Swap File. That is what Windows turns into a form of RAM when your physical amount runs low. If that is on a magnetic drive, then what is the FASTEST part of any system now becomes the slowest, as RAM moves to magnetic media in a hybrid solution to make more resources available.

If you spend a few minutes shopping a place like NewEgg (I've done thousands of dollars in business with them over the years with absolutely 0 problems), then you can find one that comes with a conversion/transfer cable. That will look like this:



One end plugs into your brand new SSD, while the other plugs into your USB port. The drive is covered for both data connection AND power with that one cable, and nothing else is involved. The software that comes with it will proceed to automatically (after a couple set up questions) transfer your entire C:\ to an SSD of the same or larger size in 100% BOOTABLE FORM.

After that automatic process is complete? The directions will tell you how to unplug one hard drive to swap in the (now identical) SSD to boot to when you turn the power back on. If all goes well (and I've rarely ever had an issue arise with this process), then all you do is hit the power switch.

You'll see a Windows 7 desktop appear and be 100% DONE with preloading and booting in 10 seconds or less (in my experience with different machines), and much of what loaded slow will be something close to instant loading by relative comparison.

....It'll also be the cheapest thing you could possibly do in making Windows 10 a much more pleasant experience, IMO.
