After wrabbit got my little grey cells going in his jade helm thread ...... remembered jfk and his visit to ft. bragg as he was a big supporter of 5th group back in the early days ....... got to meet him while he was there ..... kennedy the last president I respected ...... theyve gone downhill since and bottomed out the barrell....
Ah...Green Ramp! I ate a lot of suck there stuck in the heat waiting to board a aircraft. You'd be amazed at how many of those buildings and hangers are still there. Though they have added even more.
I had to fast forward through the Eighty-Deuce's Dog and Pony show though as I have experienced those one to many times. Hated the damn things. Ya want to see how your troops are, hold a CAPEX, at least they have a chance to do their jobs and blow something up and the observer can be entertained.
But making them stand around for hours at Ft. Dragg just so you can pass by them in a car...you must really hate them.
Beware the man who has one gun, he probably knows how to use it.
Hehe ..... mastered the art of dodging the dog and pony show ........ along with got asked not to attend anymore officers parties after a few minor incidents at the few attended ...... they didnt appreciate my livening up the party ( along with wondered how the hell I was commissioned ..... )
Always napped wait on flights .......
Kennedy was good to us gave us pretty much everything we wanted ........
At time he visited was on range he stopped and talked with us awhile ...... not see or hear of any since him do that ......
Officers were always such shammers. haha. But I was enlisted so after I served my time in the lower ranks and became a NCO, I too came up with ways to get out of the dog and pony shows. Amazing what you learn when watching those who have more experience, eh? I found that helping the OPs guy organize the show...got ya outta the show. And I actually learned some useful things while at it.
Also, in three decades of service, never attended not one Dining-In/Dining Out or other formal function. I was considered a knuckle dragger as well, but that was a well refined ruse.
Rarely could sleep on Green Ramp during the summer though. Thankfully most of my jumps were night jumps. Me and humidity DO NOT get along. The Scottish/German blood in me prefers Fall/Winter weather.

Hehe .... is part of officer course shamming 101 then on to advanced shamming ...... ooops.... erm .... meant rhip ...... erm......
Always dragged my team along on evading dog an pony show ...... led by example ..... ( though some thought us more akin to attillas horde due damages to drinking establishments ....... think is why they packed us off to vietnam they thought we do less damage to their careers over there than in world .... )
Lmao ...... had one guy only make night water jumps - eyes shut an pissed himself ..... .
Prefer hot weather cant handle cold anymore ( an hate snow ... . yuk ..... )
