This report is probably going to be baffling to some, as I've run into a few who likely won't believe civilians could be dying in war without an American somewhere nearby to be doing the killing.
I know..I know..Its hard to believe..but civilian deaths in warfare really happen, with or without US forces anywhere nearby. The UN says so!
This would be the 14 year war Obama said wewon ...errr..didn't lose .... err.. tactically retreated from. Yeah.. I think that last term sums it up best, to give the benefit of the doubt....or something.
News Flash for those slow on the uptake, or just slow in general..... If an enemy is choosing to live, fight in and fight FROM civilian housing with civilians inside it? They are making full tactical use of civilians within the line of fire...or...what we've come to call human shields. Of course, that'll take at least 3 committees, 6 months, and several votes for the UN to establish..if they care to try.

Really? You mean Americans weren't the heart of all evil and unrest across the entire nation of Afghanistan? Leaving combat didn't bring lollipops and sunshine for all, with peace and love for all mankind? but but but..... it was supposed to!! ...wasn't it?

he United Nations said on Wednesday that an increasing number of women and children were getting hurt or killed in Afghanistan's war against the Taliban and other insurgents.
The total number of casualties in the almost 14-year conflict was up one percent in the first half of this year, compared to the same period last year, a new U.N. report said. However, the number of women casualties rose by 23 percent and children 13 percent.

She said the U.N. was not able to verify whether the Taliban were using civilians as human shields, but that a large number of casualties caused by pro-government troops stemmed from exchange of fire in residential areas.

Afghanistan's security forces have been fighting the Taliban alone since the withdrawal of U.S. and international combat troops last year. The Taliban have sought to take advantage by escalating their attacks, spreading their footprint from the south and east to the north, and joining forces with other insurgent groups.
