Now isn't this just something.... Families of victims who died from Palestinian terrorist attacks finally got a bit of Justice...or they thought they did. Silly people....they didn't anticipate politics coming to erase any consideration they may have just won in Court.
To read the story, you can see this isn't even a dispute about the validity of the case, or the outcome. DOJ and State are not disputing the terrorist attacks, the murders of innocents, or the fact it was actionable in Court this way. They just seem to figure the Palestinians can't easily pay, so ..... it should be reconsidered or vacated.
What I want to know is...when did United States Government Officials start turning their backs to the interests of United States Citizens, for the economic concerns of a state or people half a world away? Did we elect people to represent AMERICANS within the American Government?? If not...where DO we go about getting some representation who looks to America FIRST and who consider "American Interests" as paramount as they need to be ....among people paid to represent the American people?

I have to say, it strikes me precisely that way. At one time, I think they called it undue influence...although technically, I suppose any idiot off the street can write a brief or friend of the...whomever party, for a court case, can't they? In that way, I guess what the DOJ and State departments are doing is legal....it just shows we don't have a Government entirely for or even supporting the American people.
It must be nice to live in Cuba, or Iran, or North Korea ...for ONE aspect. You don't see those governments screwing over their OWN interests, in public, like a spectacle for the world to wonder about. It may happen...but they aren't almost proud to undermine their OWN people.
A lawyer for Americans who were awarded hundreds of millions of dollars in a lawsuit over Palestinian terror attacks condemned the U.S. government on Tuesday for moving to intervene in the case.
The government took a step closer to wading into the high-stakes civil case as representatives from the Justice and State departments met with relatives of the victims to discuss a jury verdict that American officials fear could weaken the stability of the Palestinian government.

At issue is $218.5 million in damages awarded by a New York jury in February for attacks that killed 33 people and wounded hundreds more — a penalty lawyers say would be automatically tripled under the U.S. Anti-Terrorism Act.

Kent Yalowitz, a lawyer for the victims, condemned the Justice Department for its position, saying the government was "considering putting a thumb on the scale because the Palestinians don't like the results now that the jury has spoken."
