Well, Spyder & I have taken the Win10 plunge already. I expected some bumps right out of the gate, but... I can't believe I'm saying this, but Win8 was indeed better than this steaming pile is. I'll give it time for updates & glitch fixes, but at present, it's full of non responsiveness, freezes, graphics crashes (even with updated drivers) Not to mention the highlight of the non responsiveness is that the Run & Search functions don't work 75% of the time I click on them (I have yet to get the search field to even show, let alone see if anything I type is there) And don't get me started on the time for logging off when attempting a reboot. That harkens back to Windows 98. Pre-SP 98 (ok, maybe I'm exaggerating a little, but reboots are ridiculously slow)
And if you're an Internet Explorer user (do those still exist?) then I don't know what to tell you about Windows Edge (new IE) Other than it's the same crap with a new name. I spent more time reloading pages, or waiting for something to load at all the first time, and restarting it than I did browsing. Yeah, I'll stick with Firefox. Thanks but nope, Microsoft.
Hey, if anyone figures out how to turn off the Antimalware Service Executable, let me know, would ya? This is a huge resource hog at the moment. I'm unable, even with admin permissions, to shut the frakking service OFF
On the bright side, there's no more start page. The start menu is back, albeit with that Win8 start page crammed in there. Right-clicking opens up a nice menu for system-oriented stuff. This I do like. Not quite God Mode, but good enough for the average person anyway. I'm also getting used to the black task bar. I'm so used to grey that it's jarring, but I haven't found where I can change the color (if I even can) I can probably get used to it in time, it's not particularly bothersome.
Ask me in a few days how I feel about Win10 overall, though, it could go either way depending on any fixes
