Man facing charges for giving Cougars some attention in Ohio

A man who thought a pair of Cougars at the Columbus Ohio Zoo "wanted some love" made a valiant attempt to get himself a Darwin award (or at least lose a hand) when he jumped the fence to pet the two. The report and video shows him saying 'kitty kitty kitty' while reaching to pet them.
Now they do seem to be enjoying the attention, and there is still a fence I can see between them and the guy. I also looked around to find the complete video, and you can see the low fence he hopped to get to the main one.

I'm not sure how much danger he was actually in, but it might have been funny to see poetic justice step in to have a kitty return the attention. He'd be handling his food a little differently, anyway... 
Also, I looked at the Columbus Zoo map and they don't have a "cougar" as the media refers to it. They have a Puma area, and that is S-9 on the grid there, if you click the link to have a look. I also looked at that area on Google Earth and that is the area, I believe. You can hear a train toot at the start, and the map shows a train going around the area the Pumas are a part of. The Google Earth view showed it to be a lonely little area, too. Bad spot to 'pet the kitty cats' I'd say.

It sounds like it may just amount to quite a fine..but Doh! Don't pet the (man eating) cats!
