Oh... ain't this just the cherry on the cupcake? I thought this bad idea died a long time ago.
What part of DO NOT BRING TERRORIST COMBATANTS HERE...doesn't this idiot get? Its almost a universal feeling from what I've seen and heard each time this has come up!
Well... I'd say on the first part...I call that LAW, not mere legislation..and the latter gives the impression it is something less than LAW. It isn't written in pencil. On the second part.....BECAUSE IT IS UNFINISHED BUSINESS!! These aren't 'inconvenient left overs' from a war STILL GOING ON...but very much the core of the worst that even these ...questionable motives in Washington... couldn't find SOME twist or far out logic to release. What is left IS the core of what are our enemy for goodness sakes. They talk like these are just mistakes or misunderstood guys or something.

Yeah...that is the part where they twist any logic half way short of outright made up from thin air to kick these guys loose. Cryptome carried the documents with specifics on how those reviews worked and an increasingly forgiving or weak standard seemingly being applied.
Now on the side of reality for this 'human problem'...it is a good thing. Florence is Supermax, and that is as close to a dungeon as this nation has. They really won't be impressed to treat any of these guys special or different, and Florence is breaking some of the worst of the worst and true super stars of the criminal/terrorist world...one day at a time. Just as it's basically meant to. Gitmo will seem like some real comfy memory, if that is their final destination...holding status or not, I'm thinking.
It is still law tho..not a helpful suggestion..that these combatant leaders and commanders NOT be brought into this nation, directly.
That war is *FAR* from over, and our simply declaring OUR end of it over, didn't END anything. A story this morning was covering the Taliban take-over of a remote area as the Police surrendered en masse. I think it is safe to assume that region won't be feeling the fuzzy hope and change for awhile, if ever again, now. I hope no U.S. friendly people were left behind....and the GITMO guys left still have every reason (or more, now) to hate us and actively want us dead. All of us.
Nutz...
A plan being drafted for closing the Guantanamo military jail will call for the transfer to U.S. prisons of possibly dozens of inmates deemed too dangerous to release, President Barack Obama’s counter terrorism adviser said, setting up a fight with congressional opponents.

Obama’s new push to meet his longstanding pledge to shut the internationally condemned prison is sure to face strong resistance from Republicans who control Congress. Legislation currently bans the transfer of detainees to the U.S. mainland.
"Why hand over this albatross to the president’s successor?" Monaco said at the conference in Colorado. Obama has 18 months left in office.

Sixty-four prisoners have been deemed "too dangerous to release," including 10 facing military commissions. Monaco said efforts would be made to reduce that number through “periodic review boards” that have been used to clear others for transfer.
