Holder to announce plan to target racial profiling

This may be considered racist, but there are times racial profiling is necessary. If we are told that an Arab-looking man will try to blow up a plane, isn't it wise to pull Arab-looking people out of line at the airports and question them?

I'm all for equal protection and application of the laws, but sometimes common sense has to come in to play here.

This IS Washington DC we're talking about. Common Sense has already turned off the lights and closed the door behind herself on her way out of there.

I'm all for racial profiling... or age profiling... or height profiling.... or economic status profiling... or eye color profiling... or whatever else it takes to catch the criminals and leave the innocent be.

 

Racial profiling.. (sigh) yeah.... Lets totally ignore the obvious, ditch common sense and go by some fanciful but foolish idea of what bad guys are "supposed" to look like.

It may get me some angry responses...but I'm going to say something many won't like or perhaps even believe for all the propaganda we're force fed every day.

Racial Profiling WORKS. No...Not as a primary tool to wield as a weapon. That is RACIST profiling, not racial.

Racial profiling is finding a car full of white yuppie boys down in the lower bronx at 3am, looking a bit lost and strung out. An intelligent cop would look at that...consider the time, race which doesn't fit the scene, and appearance of the bunch as a combined thing..and say "Hey! I'll just bet those are dopers looking for a fix and not finding it!". I'll bet the cop stands a better than 50% chance of being correct too. 

Likewise, if a beat up old chevy with poorly dressed and unkempt black boys is cruising the streets of Toluca Lake (makes Beverly Hills look like the 'Commoner Section' of the area), and they're rolling the streets at the same 3am? A politically correct cop will look, see it isn't a race he's allowed to touch without probable cause that screams from a block away...and let a likely car load of burglars go on. The intelligent cop will look at that, see the same as the white boys above and for the same reasons of 'this don't fit'...and figure "Hey! Maybe that recent rash of burglaries and this car totally out of place and cruising for who knows what...have a connection??".

Would race have made the same two cars suspicious if the first one was black in a black neighborhood and the second one was white in a white neighborhood? YES... They WOULD have..because race isn't the ONLY factor I described for both....but the race added as a big piece that just doesn't fit, fast removes any other 'legitimate' reason a car load of youth with nothing apparently better to do...is way out of their comfort zone, in both cases, and looking as lost as they would. 

It's like the airports...Do we want to racial profile? HELL NO.. Not as a *PRIMARY* tool. That is basically telling Al Qaeda or ISIS "Insure NO ONE you send meets these features for profile and you shall succeed!". However....if we have a nervous and sketchy looking 20 something who could double for a stand-in to the latest Middle Eastern terror movie and he's standing next to an 80 year old grandma from Kansas? The P.C. agent will take Grandma and know he did well by letting political correctness dictate security. An intelligent agent will take the nervous, sketchy appearance WITH the fact the vast majority of the worlds currently active terrorists fit his general description...and Granny will get another day without being felt up and put down while Junior gets a side chat. 

Eric Holder is a Politician and an unusually scummy one at that. He's no cop. We *NEED* a cop in that post or someone with similar EXPERIENCE (like the lady they are looking at to replace him) which means they aren't "on the job training" like so many others this President chooses, seem to end up. America is going down the crapper with a BIG FLUSH based on "On the job training" when we need consummate professionals more now than we have in years.

When I was in NC, there was a huge blowup over a bunch of white guys - I mean seriously pale white guys that looked more like Klansmen - who went all jihad on our asses.

Similarly, it's known that AQ did some heavy recruiting in Eastern Europe for terrorists who didn't LOOK like terrorists. I think the problem with those was the "furrin accents" causing suspicion. You can't come out of 50 years of Cold War and not have that slavic accent raise some eyebrows. It will take another generation for that to kick in - assuming we can manage to avoid yet another Cold War, the prospects of which avoidance aren't looking good.

Here is something I've figured out over time - NO ONE is more dangerous than a recent religious convert. You get a white guy born and bred in the good ol' USA, convert him to Islam and POOF! Instant terrorist material. You just have to cut it right and sew it together proper. Now, that doesn't make him a terrorist instantly, but the chances of that happening are VASTLY improved.

The reasons for that are numerous. That guy was looking for something when he converted. There was something missing in his world, and he thinks he's found the cure for that deficiency He will defend that cure at all risks. Most of the time, it seems that he was lacking "acceptance" or something like that. If a radical mosque can rope him in, provide him with a context and framework to exist in, provide the "Acceptance" he is lacking, make him feel as if he has a place in that world, they can shape his every move after that. Gangs employ the same recruitment strategy.

Prison converts are the worst - most of them already have a background of violence to build upon and direct or provide focus for. Islam is HEAVILY recruiting in prisons these days. Look up "Jamaat ul Fuqra". Those folks are almost entirely prison converts to Sheikh Gilani's brand of Islam.

As I recall - and I may be wrong about this - those lilly white jihadists in NC were prison converts, but not Jamaat ul Fuqra.

I might disagree with you on the New York case. Whatever the facts may be...and I think they support more than a secret look by a GJ, I think they are trying to charge the fire hoses before a 5 alarm fire breaks out with this Federal case.

It could be..they realize...REAL riots and not neighborhood or borough riots..but city-wide ones in New York City wouldn't be protest. It would be fatalities. Likely, a lot of 'em by the end of it. Over 8 million people live there and there have been a string of "OOOOPS" by the NYPD (including cops shooting innocent bystanders in the rush to shoot bad guys) that have a % of the people already something past unhappy.

This was a really ugly case, IMO. Nothing that guy did warranted killing him....or handling him in a way which showed reckless disregard for the possibility of serious injury.
