I can't help, but am always willing to talk about something I know nothing about. Firefox and Internet Explorer have privacy modes. I've been able to log in with each of those. I've had no experience with tor. That question may better be addressed to Wrabbit2000 or Melz.
I will take a look at the ProBoards help forum to see if tor is ever mentioned, and I'll return with the results.
Sorry to say this, but I think I have an answer for you. I went to their support forum where a very similar question was asked. Here's the response:
Post by Ricky on Apr 23, 2015 at 11:15am Hi,
If a connection is being blocked on our end, it's due to past abuse with those connections. I'll bring it up in our support meeting later today, but I reserve some doubts that the blocks would be lifted.
Edit: I asked during the meeting, and indeed we don't have any intentions in unblocking TOR connections at this time. Sorry.
And I'm sorry. I wouldn't think they have changed their policy in the last three months.
Tor is a security risk, and most reputable sites block access through the darknet or deep web. Just for some background, Tor or the 'secret' websites started popping up in 2004 and began earlier than that - with the military. Tor was used to ensure secured connections between sister agencies in the government. So at some point in 2004 - the military released TOR as an open source program onto the internet.
Can anyone say - social experiment?
Now everyone needs to understand that the deep web exists. Even before Tor existed. Tor is simply a program that routes you through several computers around the world - to help you remain anonymous. Which is why - when you use the Tor browser with a linux program - it's so so agonizingly slow. I don't recommend using TOR on a Windows platform, as windows has built in holes or back doors to thwart your anonymity with Tor.
It's an ops imho - to identify crime rings operating within the dark web. The anonymity you think you have - is imagined.

Usually using firefox on android as like the layout on it along with the add ons for it ( tbh no idea how use a windows set up as only use mobile device )
Had suspected that was case from how it acted ...... wasnt sure though ......
My web use limited to here ...... a couple news sites ....... and pirating ..... oops erm downloading mp3 ...... used to include that which shall remain unnamed till left there ......
Otherwise cant be bothered with web ......
But due to censors / restrictions on information in some the places I kick around in it comes in handy having orbot ( tor ) and yep it run slow though notice on 4g or wifi it faster ......
Tor is a security risk..to ignorant and small minded people. I dunno how else to put it or say it with accuracy to the attitude it displays.
A criminal who knows enough to be comfy with TOR...has a half dozen OTHER ways to attack a web site or be a menace to the net without using the Onion network. Someone in China, Iran, Syria, Libya, or large parts of Egypt have around two choices...if they'd like to discuss something deemed 'off limits' by the State. They can use something like TOR to connect out with.....or they can risk imprisonment and/or death.
No project I have control of will block TOR automatically, because more than JUST criminals use the thing...MUCH MUCH more...and I personally WELCOME the traffic through the Onion which comes that way for legitimate reasons.
Its a shame for what is lost..by those who can't see beyond paranoia (or the obvious truth that crime finds a way..and blocking TOR just pisses them off)
True ...... took me awhile to learn to use it after one the kids at internet cafe told me about it and showed me how to use it properly ....... think gave the poor kid serious headache with how slow I am to pick up tech stuff ( did make sure to pay him bonus for having the patience to teach me ) .....
Alot of people not realise how strict censorship is in some countries or the severe penalties for accessing "restricted / censored " information that in other places is considered no big deal ......
It's a fishnet boys. To catch criminals with their cyber units and track them. That's the government's program - no open source regular civilians or criminals made Tor.
I'm not sorry to say.
And Tor is a security risk to forum sites because of the underground pedophilia and human traffic rings that think they operate anonymously on Tor. So yes, as a forum owner - responsible for minors and what they are exposed to on your site - TOR is a huge security risk to them. IF you can't track down a member responsible for the disappearance of one of your other members - how responsible are you for allowing Tor on your site to make your forum site an anyomous hunting ground?
So if proboards was to ever allow TOR access, I'd recommend changing the rules to exclude anyone under 18 years of age. So that they are an adult and responsible for their own relationships they make over the internet with strangers.
And I consider the other site Daitengu a hunting ground. Although I was given the impression by the other site, that everyone is traceable through their IP address. Well, yeah - if your not using a proxy. And I think the other site is a hunting ground for more than just minors. It's a hunting ground for extremist mind sets too. Now who's doing hunting - is the big question.
Which is why my older daughter won't go there. I won't allow her on the site without me looking over her shoulder and she is 17!
Here, I don't have as much of a problem - as I can track anyone who thinks they are going to target my kids on proboards, flightrising, and warriorcatsrpg. I've never bothered to check deviantart. I probably should.

Is good you not let her go there ..... and that you keep eye on her sadly most parents today pay no attention to what their kids do ......
on other hand my kids keep try talk me into leaving the boonies and move in with them on my annual visits so chew em out that may be old but am not decrepit ...... besides the thought of living in so-called "civilization" give me nightmares .....
Prefer here ..... much more relaxed and nicer people ....... ( not to mention here they accept my insanity ....... ) not been back to that which shall remain unnamed since came here ...... picky about the company I keep .......
If wasnt for need to keep up on what going on in world wouldnt bother with web ....... most of what seen online only reinforces my already low opinion of most people after everything seen and survived in real world ......

I log in to check my mail once every week or two on my various CT sites.
I don't know if I'll ever go back as an active member to some of those sites. Certainly not before the elections are over.
I don't like to divide my loyalties. It's easier to remain true to oneself and one's ideals - when you don't. I can be gullible, and naive, and trust where I shouldn't. So why set myself up for a situation in which I might be used or abused? And there is a LOT of abusing going on at the other sites. Some of them have a problem. Major malfunction in human decency and mores.
Here is where I settled, as it is exactly what I was looking for.
