LAPD... Ahh yes... The pride (or burning shame) of the Golden State's law enforcement community. They've outdone themselves if this is to be believed for how it happened.
Entrapment? hell... What comes AFTER that? This strikes me as further into misconduct than mere entrapment..since a crime hadn't even BEEN committed yet. Just likely to soon be.. kinda.. maybe...by L.A. laws or ordinances.

I hate to break it to the guy worried about future Uber drivers being deterred...but #1. Uber doesn't have an "uber" reputation. In fact, I merely MENTIONED the name to one of my disabled students and that started a 5 minute tirade over the captive situation..to god knows who..that actually puts someone in.
Still.... This is America, isn't it? Where you can dream something up, then go out and do it ..so long as you're not hurting others. Or..it used to be..or will be...or what the heck ever. It's hard to keep up with the rolling definitions of freedom these days, and perhaps that IS where you say Freedom isn't free anymore, anyway.
Whatever your opinion of Uber though..and even if these were dope dealers in a drive up service?? Ummm.. Don't you have to DO SOMETHING, like positive action...before you can be said to have committed a crime?
Having some bubble headed bimbo with a badge jump in, fast talk a mile a minute, and create the crime before it's happened....is cool???
Well, Uber doesn't have to worry about this bunny being discouraged for L.A. I wouldn't run a lemonade stand in Los Angeles while they have a Police Department which regularly sets the standard for institutionalized corruption.

Uber is a ride service that lets people call drivers using a mobile app on their cell phone via GPS. All payment is handled through the app.
“A lady vigorously waved me down,” Freeman said.
Chadwick interjected, “I almost thought she maybe needed help or something.”
“She said, ‘Uber?!’ according to Lomeli. “I said, ‘Yeah, Uber.'”
Lomeli said, “Then the girl opened my back door. She said, ‘Come on, I really need to go to this place. I really need to go, please.'”
Freeman said, “She said, ‘I have a friend across the street, let me wave her over.'”
“My door was open and, next thing I know, the cops are behind with the sirens on,” Chadwick said.
Police arrested all three drivers and impounded their vehicles.
