Uh Oh.. Someone grabbed the party favors, but this isn't the kind of party we're all likely to enjoy.
Now that raises quite a question. Crack heads don't break into armory locations and swipe explosives with detonators. That takes a little for brain power and planning. Yet..that shopping list doesn't make much sense, unless it's stocking up for future needs and explosives this trip didn't get.
I did a little figuring ...and 250 grams times 10 is 2500 grams of boom boom. That sounds like A LOT...but its grams..not kilos or pounds. That only comes to a little over 5 lbs of plastic explosive. Of course..."only" is a VERY relative word in this context, as 5 pounds is a whole lot more than a noise maker.
180 detonators tho??? Umm.. Did the thief carry one 0 too many to his instruction sheet?? Why so many?? Unless this is going back to a cell or group...and 180 covers the training need very well actually. You could have idiots for a class, and still have enough real detonators to eventually burn through enough to teach them how to make it go boom without injuring themselves.

So... let me get this straight. The French DID NOT ALREADY HAVE an office or group charged with overall security of military sites?? Oh ..what did they figure? They ended their war with Algeria so it was all nice again with lollipops and sunshine? Have they...missed..the last 15 years to see the war carried beyond Algeria and Frances quiet little war of the 90's?
I'm kinda dumbfounded that they not only got taken (not THAT hard to believe..and Dick Marcinko made it right to US nuclear warheads..twice..in Red Cell operations during the 80's) but that they NOW figure...'Doh! Maybe someone to secure this stuff would be a good idea? eh?'.
Oh ..France...should you really be trusted with dangerous stuff?
PARIS (AP) — At least one thief sneaked into a French military munitions compound and made off with a stash of detonators, grenades and explosives, officials said Tuesday, stoking security concerns in a country reeling from recent attacks by extremists.
French authorities were investigating the mystery theft of 180 detonators, 40 grenades and 10 blocks of 250 grams of plastic explosives from the multi-service Miramas military site near Marseille in southeast France, officials said. One said the culprit or culprits appeared to have cut through security fencing to get inside.

Defense Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian ordered an investigation into how the break-in was organized and who might be responsible. He also instructed a new office in charge of protecting such sites to review the security for all French military weapons stocks and propose "corrective measures" within 15 days, he said in a statement.
