Well, so much for that idea.... Apparently, in a city where the prosecutor is accused of corruption and issues of public misconduct herself, the top cop is certainly not safe either.
BALTIMORE (AP) — Less than three years ago, Anthony Batts was hand-picked by Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake to combat crime and reform a troubled law enforcement department in one of America's most violent cities.
On Wednesday, Batts was fired as police commissioner amid the worst crime spike in the city since the 1970s
Indeed.. Crime does tend to rise when there is a department with corruption on open display with a 'So what??' attitude in that direction, and enough infighting between city departments to keep the criminals free to pursue a life of victimizing others at will.
Perhaps..they'll find another one capable of running effective street patrols?
Now...about that prosecutor...(the one who outright told the Police to work and suppress crime in the very intersection Freddie Gray was arrested in, before being mortally injured in the ride to the precinct) Baltimore needs to flush more than one bad apple, IMO.
