Well, this is the consequence of making nicey nice with Iran (whose Government repeated over the weekend, we WILL remain enemies to them, no matter how this all turns out) while burning, slamming and double crossing allies.
Allies become enemies (or just stop caring what we think, at worst) and find others who won't play endless games just to give them a rifle.

This is a weapons system first introduced to service in 2006, from a testing and development program that began in 1996. It is actually a system Russia gave assurances it wouldn't export at one point, but like so much else these days..what is a little change of agreement between nations anymore?
This missile system is no slouch tho. It is a modern missile system with modern capabilities. Nothing like a SCUD, to be sure.
Weapon System Summary:
Way to go! In a region that was already overflowing with weapons? Poor policy leadership has insured a whole NEW arms race is starting between regional powers, and in an area of the world where MAD doesn't mean what it does here, and using weapons they stockpile is far closer to a given outcome than Western nations who often leave huge equipment stores to rot from neglect.
It should be an interesting year to come!

St PETERSBURG, July 3. /TASS/. Russia is ready to supply Iskander tactical missile complexes to Saudi Arabia, Igor Sevastyanov, a deputy director general of Russia’s state weaponry trading corporation Rosoboronexport said on Friday.
"If we, let’s say, begin the talks today they will certainly take some time," he said. "I think if Saudi Arabia wants buying this equipment, Russia will supply it."

Weapon System Summary:
Iskander missile system features(source)
The Iskander missile system is equipped with two independently targeted short-range ballistic missiles. Each missile has a length of 7.3m, body diameter of 0.92m and weight of 3,800kg. The missile can be re-targeted during flight to engage moving targets.
Iskander can carry 480kg of conventional warheads including HE fragmentation, submunition, penetration, fuel-air explosive and electro-magnetic pulse. The minimum firing range of the missile is 50km and the maximum is 280km. Iskander is powered by a single-stage solid-propellant engine.
The Iskander-M is equipped with a self-contained inertial navigation system (INS) and an optically guided warhead. The optical homing head can also be controlled from an airborne warning and control system (AWACS) or an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). This feature provides a self-homing capability to the missile. Targets can be identified by satellite, aircraft, conventional intelligence centre or a soldier. After receiving the images of the target, the onboard computer of the missile locks onto the target with its sight and directs the warhead towards the target at supersonic speed.
The missile can overcome enemy air defence systems while offering high probability of failure-free operation in countermeasures environments. It has a target accuracy of 5 to 7m and operates even in fog or darkness.
