** HELP WANTED **
Okay folks, this is a special and unique situation which has come up. It isn't likely to come up again, but it is a long term need we're looking to fill after some immediate project work is completed.
Description: Tech Support & Deveopment (Assisting)
Responsibilities: What is needed here is more an openness to learn, background in basic logical thinking for coding and experience with at least one area of HTML5/CSS3, PHP, Javascript. Experience working with in a complex web environment is helpful, but again, by no means necessary.
Pay: What...you'd offer to pay us?? Well..I guess if you insist, we can discuss how you can do that.. (grin) Actually, this is 100% volunteer. Be here for the fame, the fun or the fuzzy llama parties on the weekends, but fortune ain't in this picture. Sowwy!
Benefits: Now..I didn't say there weren't benefits. Just no pay. Short term? Long hours, no thanks and everyone mad when something breaks. Long term? Same...but we'll also be happy to verify your time and history with us as a volunteer on a semi-regular schedule. it won't buy a smile or a cup of joe at Dennys..but employers have told me it doesn't hurt to have. You'll also get the chance to work with some of the best staff on the net, in a fast tempo environment that is bound to get busier over time. There are other benefits to working here, and more will be coming soon..but we can talk more later, when/if we get far enough to talk about that.
(cracks little bunny whip) hey..... In the back there!..Eyes Front!
Requirements: HH has a process and a procedure it follows for the addition of any Mod and site staff. In this instance, and after close discussion with Guohua, we are setting aside the normal requirements of time with an account on site, activity level and other formal points. What IS required are 3 things, in addition to getting through a short but serious interview with me in a chat.
* The person filling this will be trustworthy, and with no questions on this point. We're absolutely serious on this, and if something weird exists to question? This may be best to pass on pursuing.
* A min. of 3 hours a week in realistic, actual, time doing work on current running projects, with a preference for more into the middle of next month. In long term? 3 as an average is a good minimum to have available. Initiative to suggest or start on new projects is also smiled upon and appreciated.
* Be a team player in at least one way. The needs of the members come before the needs of personal desire or ego, every time, without exception. If this person is told their work sucks ice cubes, I expect them to say 'I'm sorry you feel that way, let us see what we can do...', and get someone else if emotions are rising. Every time.
In this area, that is all important to say up front, as a tech here is working directly with me, but with access levels and such that are a bit different than the rest of the site. Integrity and like minded pursuit of the same end goal for member enjoyment simply MUST be a given, and not an adjustment to make on the job. Trust must be natural to give, not an effort to extend.
Get in touch soon and perhaps you can be one of the ...very few...very busy and very floppy eared techies!
