There is something wrong here, I believe. I don't know what it is, but something is definitely wrong. Too many kids are dropping dead while doing things that aren't THAT strenuous for a growing child.
Now it is impossible to know for certain at this point, what caused this individual girl to fall like this, but it is the frequency with which we're seeing it that gets me. This one being a seeming example of the senseless deaths where it shouldn't be happening.

This is no correctional boot camp, for goodness sake. I'd imagine by the way the story reads, there is no suspicion at all of people riding the girl too hard or being inappropriate with levels of exertion required (I understand some sports camps can get where hard labor conditions might seem an easier day sometimes).
So, I am serious in coming to wonder. Is this weakness coming as a result of the pharmacopia of drugs which kids are exposed to these days? (My son's elementary school had a Snap-On mechanics tool chest in the Nurse's office. A tall, stand up tool chest..FULL of pill bottles. Each to different students, for how absurd its become). What isn't prescribed is often in the water and environment in trace but measurable amounts, to add to questions of impact.
Is it diet and the junk/chemical concoctions we're eating and calling food? I'm as bad as anyone on it, so to thy ownself be true...but most of what a store sells as food today is as much artificial additives and chemicals as actual food. That has to have long term impacts....and could this be a sign of it?
It just isn't natural for kids to be dropping dead, unless they find a pre-existing heart or other physical issue here. It happens too. Some things definitely go unnoticed until they become terminal.
Still, this isn't just the one case here to raise attention, IMO. This case is just the most recent reminder of a serious problem.
A 10-year-old girl died Monday afternoon after losing consciousness and going into cardiac arrest at soccer camp in Queens, authorities said.
Laura Palma, who was enrolled in the Queens College Summer Camp, had a seizure then went into cardiac arrest as she played soccer at the Kew Gardens campus around 3:10 p.m., authorities said.

Queens College runs summer camps for children between the ages of 5 and 14, according to its website. The camps usually run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for two- to eight-week sessions.
Certified instructors facilitate each program with the help of college students with experience in sports and education, according to the website.
