This is a story I thought everyone would find interesting. It isn't far from what we see on the net every day, and in other settings.
Apparently, they had a burglary and it turned out to have been some black guys who did it. At least, that is how it seems and innocent until proven guilty, eh?
The problem is with how one guy in the community decided to express his feelings on through comments to a facebook page/posting highlighting the outcome in a positive way.
Smith followed that by a expletive filled rant that was down right nasty...but then, rants usually are. Nothing threatening or menacing though, and I'd post the quote but even in this context, it wouldn't fly for the hosts TnC here.

This is hard to fathom. You post a rant, then get a telephone call from the police you ranted about? Umm.. Intimidation of free speech anyone? They had every right to delete his comments, as I'd understand things. In fact, given the profanity, I'd say it was their job to moderate it. Physically reach out and call, then ARREST him though?
That free speech is feeling a bit less free, every day.
A Wisconsin man who used Facebook to complain about the racial tones of a police investigation was unfairly arrested, he claims in Federal Court.
The complaint filed Monday against the village of Arena and Officer Nicholas Stroik involves the community's reactions to the July 19, 2012, arrests of "several African-Americans suspected of burglary."

Smith says he chimed in after at least two others left comments that accused the department of racism.
One commenter has since "identified defendant Stroik as the police officer who told her that the African-American suspects would stand out because they did not belong in Arena," the complaint states.

Smith says he then received a phone call from the Arena Police Department, "asking him if he had posted the Facebook comments attributed to him."
"Smith told the police 'I put it on there, I don't regret it and I mean it,'" the complaint states.
He was allegedly arrested that night and charged with disorderly conduct, unlawful use of a computerized communication system and unlawful use of a telephone.
