This is a bit of a confusing and fast moving story with updates available here: Breaking News Feed for Story
Very simply put though, Sudan has been very bad in the eyes of the International Community (and they really HAVE been evil trolls..but then, so are half the Governments of Africa..but I digress). al-Bashir, near as I can piece together here, was in Pretoria, South Africa for an African Summit when the UN decided to drop the hammer on the arrest warrant right there. Err.... Yeah.. Not so successful, apparently.

Elvis has left the building! lol.... Actually 'close' is probably a laughable statement, and I seriously doubt any true threat was ever present for Sudan's President to come into South Africa custody.

In an observation to this...what is the major mental malfunction with these activist "justice" groups, to be showing their little blood lust issues all over the planet, hunting for "justice"? Does al-Bashir deserve a trial? Hell yes he does. What has happened in Darfur is properly termed a systematic depopulation of an entire region, for a whole subset of people (those 'too black' to pass....ironically enough for the location..and among other issues driving the slaughter over the years).
I also think Dick 'Vader' Cheney should stand tall to account for crimes against humanity and war crimes, in not JUST the war the world knows about but a very real war that man oversaw that the world knows only rumor of, at this stage of leaks and knowledge. Same with Bush...and if we want to be all right and proper about things, Bill Clinton did more than BEND a couple regs in his term. In fact, speaking of Sudan ..wasn't there an aspirin factory that was blown to bare ground with civilian death...in a "mistake"? (war crime when others do it... mistake when we do).
The point here being tho..... Careful, to those who throw the first rock when it comes to 'GET 'EM!!!' on national leaders, and ESPECIALLY sitting leaders. Now he can go back home and fill body bags with formerly living people in nothing more than a temper tantrum if he chooses...and if they HAD arrested him? More would be dead by the end of this day, who had no need to die ....but to a 'rights group', they'd actually look at that, consider it, and say it was worth it........without ever realizing they become what they fight in the extremes they go to fight it.
Hunting sitting leaders is an OUSTANDING way to see more war, more death and more misery overall, with nothing but a single man brought to justice..as the BEST possible (unlikely) outcome.

Sudanese President Omar Hassan al-Bashir, who has been ordered not to leave South Africa by the Pretoria High Court, is still in the country but will leave later on Monday, a Sudanese presidency spokesman said.

PRETORIA, June 15 (Reuters) - Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir has left South Africa, a Sudan minister said on Monday, defying a Pretoria court order for him to remain in the country until it ruled on an application for his arrest.
Bashir, who was attending an African Union summit in South Africa, has been indicted by the International Criminal Court (ICC) over war crimes and crimes against humanity.
The Pretoria High Court was in session on Monday to decide on a petition by the Southern African Litigation Centre, a rights group that wanted to force South African President Jacob Zuma's government to arrest Bashir and hand him over to the ICC.
