Well, before I get lynched... I'll be all P.C. and proper and say....coming from a 10 year old girl, and because we know her happy back story, age, situation and reason we should feel warm and fuzzy? I guess it's a neat thing to see.
If I bought a track of that song, cold..and that was the rendition of it? I'd slap it back on the counter for a refund.
Sorry.. There is touching for effort ..and then there is quality for result. She sure has one..I just don't see the other.
Fair voice, but desperately need to work on her breathing control and melody. She has potential, but ain't there yet. Might be ready for Vegas (sounded a lot like a lounge singer to me), but not a record label.
I'm sort of over in the corner there with wrabbit. If I had bought it, I'd probably be looking for a refund, unless I were looking to fund the development of potential.
@ninurta, Her voice is what got me. A ten year olds voice is usually not that developed. She will probably have a even more huskier voice as she ages. And there is a place for a husky voice in the music industry. As long as she doesn't go down the same road as some of the other child stars, I wish her the best.
But I agree, I wouldn't buy that particular song either. I was liked the fact that she belted out a tune from before her childhood, that had to be abbreviated and got up in front of all those people, in a contest no less. My hats off to all the kids that have the courage to do that.
My hats off to the parents as well. You know that they also had a hand in instilling that confidence in her. It looks like they didn't go overboard either with it.
Beware the man who has one gun, he probably knows how to use it.
Yup, she had the timber to her voice, which is why I think she has potential, Needs more polish, and to lose that "lounge singer" quality to it, IMO. Probably a function of being from that area, I reckon.
The most impressive quality, perhaps, was the fact that she belted it right out, in spite of her obvious nerves. Hell, even Howard Stern recognized the nerves, and worked with that, which I didn't expect from him. I'd have thought he'd be hammering on that, as would be in character for him, but apparently even Stern has a heart - who knew?
